"Who Are the Dice Chuckers?" #1 -- Satine Phoenix
As the weeks go by and we approach our deadline, we at Twin Suns Entertainment will be sharing with you some of the individuals who will be featured in our documentary film Dice Chuckers. While a number of individuals and experts will be interviewed throughout the film discussing the hobby and how it is important to them, we couldn't be more excited to announce one of our first subjects who has graciously (perhaps foolishly) agreed to let us shadow her life, one of the stars of The Escapist webseries "I Hit It With My Axe", Satine Phoenix:.
I sat down with her recently to talk to her about gaming, and couldn't have been more impressed. She began playing D&D, like many of us, with the boxed set years ago (less years for her, more years for me) which her Dad had saved from his youth. From there it developed into a passion for character and storytelling that are the hallmark of this hobby. Which led me to the oft-debated question: Are RPGs a game or a storytelling medium? Both? I'm sure we've all known players who treat RPGs strictly as games, but Satine, in her GM duties at DnDMelt at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood, falls solidly on the side of RPGs as a storytelling medium.
In the documentary, we'll take a closer look at her life, her passion, and her hobby.
