Anse and Bhule, an original script by Tania Myren, is the story of two cultures that survive a cataclysmic apocalypse by living underground for thirty years. Anse and Bhule is an action packed post-apocalyptic buddy/love story of discovery and redemption. A group of boys living in a cave develop a unique blended culture of ritual and language from their diverse backgrounds influenced by religion, childhood fears and superstition. Through ritual vision quests, they make a determination to travel the earth and kill creatures created by disease and make the world “clean” for the brotherhood. On their journey they discover a “her” from another enclave, the first woman they have ever seen. She is sick but speaks to Bhule and awakens ideas about the world he has never entertained. When the “her’s” daughter comes to save her, the boy is faced with new ideas that challenge his relationship to Anse and the brotherhood. The resulting journey is one of conflict, redemption and forgiveness.

We completed the first hour of the film in the summer of 2009 and are resuming filming on August 1, 2010. We will complete core principle photography from current funding, but we are looking for final funding to shoot three key scenes that are a bit more challenging and expensive but provide critical story points and cinematic interest. This project is the completion of principle photography on Anse and Bhule, an original film by Tania Myren.

The project involves artists from the Sowelu Ensemble in Portland, Oregon and has received a scope of community support from foundations and organizations for project funding and donated studios and locations, to multiple artists donating time, talent and energy. This request is seeking funding from individuals like you to complete our final three scenes. They include a critical chase scene at the opening of the film in which the girl’s father is killed, flashbacks of the men as boys when they first killed a creature who was one of their own and a final hallucinogenic vision quest of the leading lady. These scenes function as our catalyst for the girl’s journey, the climax for the boy’s crisis and the catharsis for the girl that changes the characters forever at the end of the film.
