Mindgame-kickstarter

About this project

Jobsite Theater is the 12-year old resident theater company at the Straz Center for Performing Arts (formerly TBPAC). We provide a unique cultural experience with our cutting-edge and innovative programming unlike anything else in the bay area. We have built ourselves as an artist's theater, an ensemble theater, and we are dedicated to enriching the careers and lives of artists of all disciplines in the area with our work.

We perform out of the 100-seat Shimberg Playhouse black box theater, which provides many unique challenges in technical matters since the space was not initially designed to be a theater. We tend to focus on smaller, simpler set designs because of this, but then along comes a masterful play like MINDGAME, adapted by Anthony Howrowitz from his best-selling novel.

The set for MINDGAME is incredibly complex, and is a set that has many quirks and characteristics that make it a unique challenge for any theater producing it. We're not trying to be intentionally vague, but we also don't want to give anything away. You'll have to come see it to believe it. :)

This will be our most expensive scenic undertaking since our 2001 production of Dracula, which was also performed around Halloween - our company's signature holiday (just last year we presented an adaptation of Night of the Living Dead).

We want to raise $2,500 from the public to help pay for this huge undertaking. Raising money publicly not only allows us to do more, but also allows us to keep our ticket prices down so that regular folks (our primary clientele) can afford to come to the theater.

The $2,500 won't cover all of it, but it will cover enough so that we can offset our budget to match what we're normally capable of spending. This is also a test for this super-spiffy Kickstarter service, once that we hope we can turn into a regular project-specific tool for us.

Can you help? Ever single $1 helps!

THANKS!
