Meet Michael James Scott.  Meet Asmeret Ghebremichael.  Two friends living parallel lives and following their dreams on The Great White Way.  One: a sassy broad strutting her gams down 9th Avenue with a personality as delicious as sweet tea. The other: Asmeret.

Straight from the Tony winning cast of THE BOOK OF MORMON, these two Broadway Brownies are stepping out and stepping up into the spotlight to show you what they are all about.  With a combined 13 Broadway shows to their names they are excited and honored to be doing their own thang.  Through their favorite songs, you will learn what makes them tick and tock, what makes them groove and rock and how they continue to dream the dream, honey boo boo child.  Come along on their journey and see who they are when the curtain falls - and when it goes up again.  The night will include the duo's favorite pop, R&B, and soul songs... and maybe some classic Broadway favorites.  Boasting musical direction by the fabulous Cian McCarthy and direction by Michael Potts, both also from THE BOOK OF MORMON family, as well as a few sick back-up vocalists (TBA so soon!) ... It’s sure to be a fantastic and fingerlickin’ night.  Watch out Colonel Sanders.

This one-night-only event is only possible due to your generosity.  New York is expensive!  You will help us cover the space rental at the beautiful Canal Room, our incredible band and our star studded directorial & music team.  And where would we be without those creative people to make us look so fierce... WHO WE ARE:

Michael James Scott is currently a featured cast member in the New Broadway musical The Book of Mormon.  His other Broadway shows include Hair, Mamma Mia, All Shook Up, The Pirate Queen, Disney's Tarzan, and Elf The Musical.  On London's West End he was the Assistant Choreographer and member of the tribe in the Broadway revival of Hair.  Off Broadway he was featured in Here's to Joe opposite Donna McKechnie and he was part of the concert cast of Jerry Springer the Opera at Carnegie Hall.  He had the esteemed pleasure of being the standby for Mr. Ben Vereen in the international tour of Fosse (a role he eventually took over). He's sang for the past 4 years with the critically acclaimed singing group The Broadway Boys.  His dance and Musical Theatre training background extends back to the Broadway Theatre Project in Tampa Florida where he studied with the Legendary Gwen Verdon, Ben Vereen, Gregory Hines, and Ann Reinking who he also assisted for 2 years. He's taught numerous Master Classes around the country for Dance and Musical Theatre and loves to teach young artists who have the dream like he had of being in show business.  Michael is a graduate from The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University with a BFA in Musical Theatre. Asmeret Ghebremichael is currently featured in the hit Broadway musical The Book of Mormon, which won the 2011 Tony Award for Best Musical. Her other Broadway credits include Elf, Legally Blonde (Pilar), Spamalot, Wicked, and Footloose. She appeared in the off-Broadway production of In the Heights and won a Drama Desk Award for Best Ensemble. Her other New York credits include Soul Deep: an anthology of Black music at Lincoln Center's Allen Room, and Don't Quit Your Night Job, Broadway's improv and sketch comedy variety show at Joe's Pub and Le Poisson Rouge. Her film/tv credits include Confessions of a Shopaholic, The Drummer, Red Hook, and MTV's broadcast of Legally Blonde: The Musical. Asmeret currently stars as Raina Pearl in the hit webseries Submissions Only, which has recently been featured in Entertainment Weekly's Must List, New York Magazine's Approval Matrix and The Wall Street Journal. Asmeret received her Bachelor of Science Degree from New York Universtity, where she was Valedictory Speaker of her graduating class. Tweet her! @asmeretyemane
