Locations of Prototypes
All geared up and ready to go (well except for packing). Getting excited to head back down to the NOLA region. Thanks for all the support making this possible!. Recycled update but one that I find interesting nonetheless:
Here are 2 sets of pics that show the locations of some of the underwater tests I have taken. The first pair is of an unnamed ditch near Shell Beach. The ditch that runs left to right in front of the camera goes for about 4 more miles to the left eventually ending in an industrial canal servicing ship builders and repair yards, At this point it is not navigable by shrimp or ocean going boats. A few blocks to the right, their are shrimp boats docked and the waterway runs a couple of miles until it connects to the Mississippi Gulf Outlet Canal (MGOC). It is surprisingly deep for only being about 40' wide. It is at least 8 feet deep only a foot out from the bank where the camera stands.
The small canal the is running directly away from the camera connects to the MGOC about a 1/4 mile away. The trees are dying from salt water incursion. The Gulf is around 25 miles from this site. The underwater image was taken around 20 feet to the right. Image #1 from the rewards is also taken at this location.
The second set shows a feeder to the Black Levee Canal. The two above water shots connect the point where the feeder meets black levee and where the feeder ends about a 1/4 mile away. The same oil platform can be seen in both (in the original images in the far distance. The underwater shot was taken about halfway between the camera and the car in the second above water image.
