We're going to make a music video for our song 'With You' and we're here to raise the money to do it!

As we said in the introduction video, we've got the song all picked out. Its called 'With You,' and it's full of beautiful imagery and intriguing soundscapes, the perfect compliment to an artfully filmed music video. The skinny: DRMS is a band; a bold, striking, modernistically engineered music collective set to take on the world and supply it with beautiful sounds to soothe the madness. Our first step in this direction was to record an album which we're really proud of; we will be releasing said collection of sonorities on July 28th, 2012. IN ORDER to get these robust jams out into the world, to spread them far and wide, beyond the reach of our immediate circle, we need some way to engage new listeners in an exciting and non-circuitous manner; something that says BLAM!! We are DRMS and this music is amazing. Naturally, it would be ideal if this path of distribution was 4 minutes long, visually as well as sonically engaging, and easily accessible via the inter-web. Enter the modern music video!! The perfect solution for our current predicament.
After this whole music video thing enters the picture, none other than Elia Vargas shows up, director extraordinaire, and, having worked with such luminaries such as Bjork, Vincent Moon, and Scott Snibbe, offers to direct a music video for DRMS. US!! So, he comes over to my house one day and has a look-see around, turns to me and says "Rob, this would be the perfect place to shoot a music video for DRMS. I have a concept; we're going to make this house come alive. Lets make a budget and see what we'll need..."
In the words of a wise man, "let me sum up."
- we'll need materials to create a wild set
- create some costumes with the help the wonderful Ashley Brock
- Hiring Elia as a Director
- Hiring a directory of photography
- Hiring someone to light the shots; and renting said lights
- We've got a great group of volunteers as well to help us make it, but we need to keep them (and me) from getting "hangry" by feeding them delicious foods
As one can see, when making a music video which is a work of art in its own right, these costs start to add up. At one point, a record label would have fronted the costs to create a music video, but in this day and age, with more and more bands releasing their music independently, it falls on the band to find creative ways to fund their albums and campaigns. And, as I'm writing this, I'm reminded of the superabundance of prizes which we've come up with to entice you to contribute to making our dreams of a music video happen.
