THE STORY
Corporal Henry Trout fought valiantly in the forgotten skirmish of the Lethe Confluence during the Civil War. The year was 1861. In 2011, he will come face to face with his descendants as the battle for blood begins. Tyler and her brother Chad, Henry's fifth generation grandchildren, will challenge the very legend of Charon the Ferryman, as the lines between the living and the dead become blurred.
THE 1861 CAMPAIGN
Hi. J.A. Steel here. I am currently in pre-production on my 4th feature film, BLOOD FARE. As you know, film making is a team effort - so here is your chance to become part of the "Campaign of 1861". I've assembled part of my producing team from my first three movies (THE THIRD SOCIETY, SALVATION and DENIZEN); however, we're here to make an HD feature that is bigger, badder, and has more boom and bang for the bucks. I have a lot of people pitching in, from a Civil War re-enactment group to family, friends, and of course, we want you! We chose $1,861 because it was the year that the Civil War started, but would also provide us with being able to feed our cast and crew for a five day shoot & location fees. We would really like to get to $5,000 so we can have two "name" actors and shoot under the SAG Ultra Low Budget agreement and every dollar above $5K would go to renting cool equipment, like helicopters for aerial shots and even cooler special effects. However, we have to start somewhere....
We are scheduled to start filming on August 13th for three days. We are then scheduled to shoot on September 18th. The film will be shot in HD and edited on Avid. If you notice our "fund by" date is half way into completion of our nine day shoot, so essentially the 1861 is to help complete principle photography.

BLOOD FARE will be produced under Tunis Productions the Salt Lake City based Corporation that also brought you J.A. Steel's diving documentary "Dive the Deep Blue". Rough cut editing is scheduled to take place in Utah with final mix and editing to take place at Secret Handshake Entertainment in Hollywood.

Send MessageOne of the few female action film directors in Hollywood, and one of the first western women to study the art of Muay Thai kickboxing in Thailand. J.A. rocked the film and music industry in 1999 with her first feature “The Third Society”. J.A. drew on her experience in working on at least two dozen other feature films to write, direct, produce, edit, and music supervise the 35mm film which was released by Warrior Entertainment in 2003. “The Third Society” has won Steel numerous awards, including the 2004 Bare Bones Film Festival Indie Auteur and Best Soundtrack awards. Past projects include directing and hosting for the documentary television pilot “Dive the Deep Blue” and starring as the Alien Bounty Hunter in “Cerebral Print”. Steel’s second feature, “Salvation” was released in June 2007 by York Entertainment. “Denizen,” Steel's third feature was released in 2010 by Indie Flix. An action Civil War themed feature, "Blood Fare" is currently in development for a 2011 release on the 150 year anniversary of the Civil War.
