Metropolis Soap Company has been around since 2009 and has become a soapy POWERHOUSE. Or, it will be....once we get to the New York International Gift Fair!
The New York International Gift Fair is THE premiere wholesale tradeshow for gifts and housewares....like us! The bath and body section, known as Ex-TRACTS, houses some of the most well-known brands in the country (Crabtree and Evelyn, Archipelago, Voluspa), and up-and-coming brands....like us! It runs January 28 - February 2, 2012. Check out more info on the gift show here: www.nyigf.com.
Currently there are not many 100% vegan and natural companies showing at the Gift Show and so our message of cruelty-free ethics in skincare would be a refreshing change for the buyers!
The fee will be used solely for our booth space and electricity. We're ready to cover the manpower, the inventory, and fixtures needed to make our booth a success.
We've got the stock, we've got the look....we just need the upfront cash to pay for a space! Unfortunately, it gets a bit pricey to get into the show, and it's the ultimate catch-22: to get into the show you need the capital, but you get the capital from the buyers at the show!

I've been making soap since 2004, Metropolis was launched in February of 2009

The NYIGF is our shot to get national exposure for our brand. Retail stores from all over the world come to this tradeshow to meet new manufacturers. It would help us take the leap from "teeny business" to "real live small business"

We've got our game faces on for this. We've been stepping up our production and within the past year have increased batch sizes by 200% and have been working with our suppliers to buy more in bulk.

Our big press mentions include Bust Magazine, DailyCandy, theexaminer.com, and PETA.com
We've done events at Henri Bendel's for Fashion's Night Out, and been on the Street Fair circuit since 2009. Larger shows have included the Bust Craftacular, Renegade Chicago and Brooklyn, and the Manayunk Arts Festival.
