We are hoping to release 3 new albums from 3 young Richmond bands on vinyl, CD, and digital formats - but we need YOUR HELP to make it happen!

We are utilizing Kickstarter as a way for you to preorder these records while simultaneously funding their production.  Each of these three albums will have hand screened covers made by the label with help from the bands themselves, and we are creating a whole slew of new merch to coincide with these releases.

IF YOU ONLY HAVE FIVE DOLLARS TO DONATE: We will still mail you an envelope full of stickers and buttons.  Just $5 can really help so this is our way of saying THANKS!!

The first level reward is called "JUST THE VINYL" and is a preorder of any of these new records, then there's the "BASIC" level which includes a bonus record and a poster, THEN you can also do the "DELUXE" preorder and get all of the "Basic" stuff plus a t-shirt and more!  There's also options to preorder all three records for those of you looking for lots of new bands to listen to!

WHAT IS WORTHLESS JUNK?

Worthless Junk is a record label, pop-up record store, festival-throwing, show-having amalgam of a business 100% based in the old-world metropolis of Richmond, Virginia. We are focused on releasing affordable and (when possible) hand and locally made music products in digital, vinyl, cd, and cassette formats.

In 2012 we also hosted 26 local Richmond bands in a music festival we called RIVER CITY SHREDS highlighting the diversity of bands, people, and music venues in Richmond, Va. - it was a great success and something we hope to have again in 2013 as long as we can continue to make projects like these a success.

We also did fun things like bring THE DEAD MILKMEN to town, book huge record release shows, sponsor community events, etc.

We distribute our releases throughout the whole world through a network of both North American and International Distributors, Mailorders, and Record Stores. It's our goal to document and share Richmond's music not just locally, but with everyone out there who will lend an ear to listen!

To continue with such endeavors we need constant community input and participation if we want to continue moving upward.

WHY/HOW WE NEED YOU!!

Our goal is to cover just HALF the cost of producing each of these records. If we fail to do so it will severely affect our plans to grow throughout the next year. We will be pressing these records in Tennessee and hand screening the covers, and digitally printing the inserts from our home-print shop in Richmond, VA. DIY or die!

If we can reach past our goal, GREAT, it will really help to make 2013 a strong year for us and enable us to put more energy in to promotion, marketing, creating, and throwing shows like our annual RIVER CITY SHREDS Festival

Your contribution to this project assures we can produce, promote, and market these records - not just locally, but to the music world at large. We are dedicated to helping create and maintain Richmond's place as a "music town", but such a title will always require community support. That's where you come in!

WHO ARE THE BANDS? WHAT ARE THE ALBUMS?

CHEYENNE "Secrets of The Cheyenne" Vinyl LP - This is the first full length album from Richmond's noodle-punks CHEYENNE. Made up of members of a ton of Richmond bands (JABRONI, MID-AIR, SPRINGTIME, WAY SHAPE OR FORM, ETC) these guys are pioneering a new school of emotive-pop-punk that sports some of the best hooks and most inventive guitar playing to be seen in Richmond today.

SHY, LOW "Binary Opposition" Vinyl LP - The second full length release from Richmond crafters of epic instrumental jams reminiscent of GODSPEED, ENVY, MONO, etc. comes in the form of just two tracks - . We are suckers for music that tells a story, and SHY, LOW does exactly that without uttering a word. We are very excited to release this beautiful piece of music to the masses.

WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM "Person, Place, or Thing" Vinyl LP - We are happy to release a limited edition 12" vinyl of WAYSOF's newet full length "Person, Place, Or Thing". Beginning as a solo project and evolving into a full band, WAYSOF have been packing venues across town with ears eager to take in their own brand of indie-rock that's a perfect synthesis of analog and digital instrumentation and touches on so many parts of what's happening on music today.  

WHAT DO I GET FOR CONTRIBUTING?

We are utilizing Kickstarter as a platform for preordering these records and helping fund the costs of their production. 

Since there are three different albums, you may choose to preorder one or all of the records at two different levels.  Since it is the Holiday Season we also have our "Worthless Junk Holiday Special" which gets you a copy of all of our current releases and other goodies for a very fair price!

$11 Contribution = JUST THE VINYL Preorder of one LP. You get just the album and a digital download code.

$18 Contribution = Basic Preorder of one LP.  You get the album, a button, sticker, silk-screened record release poster and a second secret vinyl release of ours for free!  Price includes shipping, these will ship sometime in January.

$25 Contribution = Deluxe Preorder of one LP.  You get the album, more buttons, more stickers, a t-shirt, bonus record from us, and a record release show poster.  Price includes shipping, these will ship sometime in January.

$50 Contribution = All three new LPs "Basic Preorder".  You get all three record, buttons, stickers, and a free mystery record from us.  Price includes shipping, these will ship sometime in January.

$60 Contribution = Worthless Junk Holiday Special.  You get one copy of all of our current releases and more that adds up to 6 records, 4 CDs, a Worthless Junk t-shirt (new design!) and more extra goodies.  This will ship ASAP after the end of our Kickstarter Project and should arrive to you right before Christmas! 

$75 Contribution = Holiday Special + 1 Preorder.  You get the Holiday Special plus a preorder of one of the new albums coming out.  You can let us know which after making the contribution.  The Holiday Special will arrive right before Xmas, the preorder will ship sometime in January.

$100 Contribution = Holiday Special + All 3 Preorders.  This is the best possible deal! For $100 you get the Holiday Special above and all three of the new albums as preorders.  The Holiday Special will arrive right before Xmas, the preorders will ship sometime in January.

$100 Contribution = Record Store/Distro Deal.  5 copies of each of the 3 new albums + other goodies.  Thanks for supporting our music!  This one is for record stores/distros that sell our music only.
