With the mobile revolution, smartphones like the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy, provide an all-in-one digital solution (e.g. mp3, camera, navigation, etc.). 

Consequently, there is a greater need for a phone cradle in your car, office, or home. However, have you come across one that matches the aesthetic design of your smartphone?

That begs the question...

Why should we use old-fashioned, cheap plastic cradles? 

Many people do not want to clutter their luxurious car interiors with a clumsy cradle. Consequently, we aimed to design an elegant and sleek cradle to match. 

The toughest task was to eliminate the cumbersome plastic arms with ball-joints or swivels to achieve a simple, metal (Aluminum) design. 

The solution?

Magnet Hinge Technology:

Invented to serve as an alternative to plastic arms with ball-joints or swivels for panning and tilting. 

The result? 

A simple, sleek, and functional cradle that rotates 360 degrees and tilts 180 degrees. 

The Zyroshell uses aircraft grade Aluminum (CNC precision machined), with glass beading, and hard anodizing -- lending to it's scratch-resistant, polished look.

Strong Gel Pads: 

The baseplate attaches to dashboards or desks using a gel pad (non-adhesive sticky technology). The gel pads leave no sticky residue, are reusable, as well as washable. 

The ultra-low profile (2.4mm), soft and flexible design of the baseplate conforms to curved dashboards and console areas. The upper wing of the cradle has a strong gel pad to hold the phone securely through extensive vibration. However, it can easily be detached by hand. 

Multi-purpose & Universal: 

It can stick securely to any surface, and can hold any device under 0.9 lbs(400g).  Weight of the product including the baseplate is 0.26lbs(120g).

The Zyroshell comes in Silver and Black Matte finish.

Dust Cap: 

Prevents dust accumulation on the gel pad when not in use. 

Where we are:

We started the project eight months ago -- it was after many days of intensive brainstorming that we finally came up with what we call 'magnet hinge technology':

• February - Fixed design concept after +10 renderings.
• March - Produced the first prototype samples, and went through some more design changes.
• April - Produced the second prototype samples and started field tests.
• May - More field tests, more improvements.
• June - Produced the 3rd and final phase samples.
• July~August - Filed patents in technology, product, and design. Created an extrusion mold, and developed jigs for mass-production.
• Present day - We are ready for mass production, and are looking to Kickstarter funders to help launch the 1st production run!
