Doug Stone is a performer, songwriter and co-founder of Pinataland, a more than a decade old musical collective whose aim is to write, record and perform original songs about largely forgotten events and people in history. Their music was described by The Onion as "epic swatches of spaghetti-western, Appalachia, and folk sounds.... obscure tidbits of history with an enthusiasm that speaks more to deep-seated fascination than gimmickry."

Pinataland has recorded four CDs of original songs and has performed at historic sites such as the Edison National Historical Site (where they demonstrated wax cylinder recording), Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery and underground in the abandoned Atlantic Avenue Tunnel. They have appeared on NPR's "Weekend Edition", David Dye's "World Cafe" and New Jersey's beloved WFMU. In 2004 they were named "Brooklyn's finest dark old weird world history orchestrette" by the Village Voice.
