Jim Rentfrow wants to produce a new gemstone collection using concave cut gems.
Hello, my name is Jim Rentfrow and I am an experienced gemstone cutter. I've worked in the US and overseas on a USAID funded program in Afghanistan, training civilians to support themselves by cutting gemstones. Now I am up for a new challenge - fantasy cut gemstones.
Normally I take something that looks like this:
And turn it into this:
But what I want to do is create a new line of fantasy cut gemstones. The reason I want to start to create fantasy cut gemstones is it will allow me to focus on the artistic side of gemstone cutting while getting away from the commercial side of things. Gemstones are my passion, but I want to create gemstones that are truly unique pieces of art like the stone cut by Dalan Hargrave above.
What is a fantasy cut gemstone you ask? A fantasy cut gemstone uses different cutting techniques including concave faceting, holes, bubbles and carving to bring out the inner beauty of a gemstone. In short, it allows gems to look like this!
Now, in order to do this I need to first purchase a fantasy cutting machine. These machines are quite expensive due to the precision and repeat ability of the machinery.
This is where you come in!
To show my gratitude for your financial support, I invite you to share in my passion by offering you a variety of gemstones and jewelry piecess. This is why Kickstarter is so powerful; it allows you to help out a person, while getting something cool in return!
You can contribute anything from $1 to $3500 with rewards at all areas. But it’s an all or nothing reward system, if I do not hit my goal I do not get any of the funds and all money is returned to the backers. Time is short, the goal is large and with your help I know I can reach it!
Thank you for checking out my campaign and thank you for any support you give me as well!
Sincerely,
Jim Rentfrow
