Art students from all over the world coming together to create a collection of illustrated stories, featuring original creations.
The SIC is pushing onward and upward with it's student-published short story comics anthology, Figments. A group of motivated Illustration students at the Academy of Art University, calling themselves the Sequential Imagery Consortium (SIC), are working hard to create the best comics the world has ever seen. With the help of Kickstarter donations and support of people who love good illustrated stories, they have been able to put out three fantastic issues already and are currently working hard to make an even more amazing 4th book. Each issue is a collection of short stories by different creators, some of which are continuing stories and some stand solidly alone. This upcoming issue will debut many new talents for the first time in print, as well as feature the top talent of the graduating class. Be part of these artists’ dreams coming true, and be witness to the future of the comics industry coming forward.
FAQ
-
Because our production and selection process is concurrent with our fundraising efforts, we cannot guarantee that a particular artist who is planning to submit work for this issue will be included. There are so many factors in an artist's life that go into producing their work, and we recognize that a lot of flexibility is necessary. Please understand this and we hope you would donate towards the group as a whole and our collective goal.
-
Yes. Anyone featured in the most current issue of the book is available for producing your donation incentive. Just send us a message once you know which featured artist you want to produce work for you.
-
There are a rotating group of artists from AAU in the book, some of whom produce material that may be used in each issue, some who have a larger story which is told in pieces, and some who produce a one-shot for just a issue. Because our submission process is open, we can't guarantee during our fundraising phase exactly who will be in a particular issue.
-
Within a week of the date when fundraising comes to an end, all artwork should be submitted, processed, formatted, and ready to go to print. So, we end up being limited only by the printer's speed, which can be affected by anything from how busy they are to our putting a rush on the order. Typically, it can be as quick as two or three weeks or up to a month after sending the artwork off to get the books back. Then, we'll start sending them to our supporters and fans!
