I'm interested in the process of civic science and DIY infrastructure, and am deeply in love with flying machines. I live in Portland, OR, where I teach at PNCA, work on design issues in sanitation through the Cloacina Project, and am a co-founder and Director of Production at the Public Laboratory for Open Technology and Science.
Anyone else having a hard time finding helium? The most promising outlet I've found in my area says there is currently a shortage of helium and they can only sell for serious uses. I've seen tiny canisters at Walmart, but I don't know if they hold enough helium. Anyone have any suggestions, or having similar difficulties?
Have any of the smaller pledgers seen their orders fulfilled?
Mathew,
Still have not seen the CanonA490/A495 cameras. Is Jeff and the crew OK? Could you give us $325/$425 dollar folks an update? Thank You!
If you haven't heard from us or received a shipping e-mail, please contact me directly. We are e-mailing to the addresses you provided in your backer surveys, make sure you check 'em!

Douglas,
Glad to hear you received your kit! Jeff Warren and our crew in boston are hard at work assembling the camera sets and they will be mailed separately. You can follow some of his research notes here:

I received the $85 balloon kit yesterday which was pleasant. However I had purchased the $325 set with (Canon A490/A495 cameras) with DIY kit for mounting and dual camera shutter synch. Are these being sent in two separate shipments. There was nothing in the package saying so. By the way I like the instructions.
Thank you for the update, please keep us updated as you make progress.
Hi all-
We're waiting on the fulfillment company we contracted to-- things haven't been going as fast as we had hoped. Everything has been out of our hands since the 21st of February, and I really wish I could give you a firm ship date, but I don't have it yet. You all will hear as soon as I do, we're pushing hard to make this happen.
I think they ran off with our money! There's been no updates in a month, the delivery window has come and gone, and they never respond to my emails. Has anyone heard from this project since Feb 1?
What's Up! Any New News?
I absolutely can't wait to try this in my neighborhood and potentially with clients. Cheers!
Wow, and I can see a lot of portuguese speaking backers, congrats everyone. As soon as we star getting imagens well post´and share! Tootles!!!
Congratulations on the funding success and tremendous support.
woo hooo! It was close there for a minute :) ...so glad you finally pulled out the win!
love all the levity: the theme of your project + all of your backers - congratulations!
Hey, I think that's me in one of those promo photos! (via Cesar?). Had a terrific time learning and helping with project in the gulf. This is a fantastic idea that deserves to go viral!
Hi Mattew!
I had a similar project using R/C aircraft (www.fotosaereas.com.pt - sorry, only portuguese version). But I never got enough time to learn how to fly them properly. I also added $20 extra (even if already included, I see) and wish you best luck with your project!
Maybe I'll use Kickstarter as well to prototype some other ideas of my website, those are in english. If you can take a look, please give me a couple hints. Thanks
Joao Pires
Mathew I will be using the kit to make animal counts in both infrared and regular formats. In Texas deer counts are essential for wildlife management and this method is super economical ( compared to the $250-750 per hour for helicopter counts ) and can be done by individual land owners. Thanks for a great idea. I'm anxious to get started and to spread the word. Roberto
Thanks Claudia!
Shipping (including international shipping) is included in the price! we'll have to throw something extra in for you!
Hello Mathew, I always dreamed of photographing from the sky. I'm so happy you're making it possible. I've added an extra $20 for postage to Europe. I hope that's enough. If not, let me know.
Warm greetings from The Netherlands.

Awesome to see this in the Kickstarter newsletter! Good luck Mathew!
