Update #3: We reached out goal (THREE TIMES)!!!!!!
Dear beloved backers,
As we type this, the Food & Freedom Riders are flying into Birmingham from across the country. Our first dinner is cooking in the oven at the house of our Real Food Fellow, Kyoka Akers.
Thanks to your incredible support, we were able to blow our initial goal out of the water, raising over $3,000 in just under 3 weeks.
We are humbled, inspired, and energized just in time for the Food & Freedom Ride to start...TOMORROW!!
Once you respond to our surveys, we'll start processing your rewards. We are so excited to give back to you all!

Update #2: Double down done--Now 5's for Food & Freedom Rides!
Thank you all for your generous support!!
Thanks to a host of new backers, in less than one week, we hit our second goal of $2,000!
We have now safely secured the money we need to film the Food & Freedom Rides, and create a curriculum to go with our short documentary!
With 11 days left of our fundraiser, we're calling out one last pitch: to anyone who hasn't given yet, we invite you to give just $5 for the Food & Freedom Rides.
Our original plan was to rent all of our film equipment. But if we can raise even more money, we will attempt to purchase as much of that equipment as possible so we can film future Food & Freedom Rides, as well as other key Live Real events. The ability to film freely will give a huge boost to our future work and campaigns.
Along with $5 for the Food & Freedom Rides, we're setting out a challenge to get 500 "Likes" and 500 "Followers" on our new Facebook and Twitter accounts, so we know a whole bunch of folks will ride with us this August from across the country.
To all of our backers, we send you a big big thank you, and a big big invitation to help us with one last push: please share this Kickstarter fundraiser, along with our Facebook and Twitter accounts, with friends, family and colleagues, in these 11 days of 5's for Food & Freedom Rides.

WOW, Live Real is feeling the love!! Thank you so much for your generous support!!! In just 24 hours, we surpassed our $1000 goal! That means we can document the Food & Freedom Rides!
But we are not stopping there. We set our fundraising goal at a bare minimum because we knew if we didn't reach it, we couldn't receive any of the donations. Now that we feel the strength and excitement of our community, we know we can up the ante.Help us double down our fundraising, and double our impact! Share our Kickstarter with your friends and family via e-mail, Facebook and Twitter.
If we reach our new goal of $2,000, we will create a curriculum to complement our documentary that can be used by educators in schools and communities across the country.Your continued support multiples the impact of our film by enabling us to create an educational toolkit that will bring the Food & Freedom Rides and the food justice movement to many many more youth.
