Help fund the digital re-release/re-building/re-mastering of Christ Analogue's 1997 album "In Radiant Decay."
ABOUT THIS PROJECT -
Eighteen years ago I started an electronic/industrial band called Christ Analogue. I thought we were, and still think we were, a punk band with electronics and a strong focus on emotional connection, individuality, and personal strength.
In 1997, we released our second and most definitive record, In Radiant Decay.
We were a very determined band, toured constantly, and ultimately found ourselves distributed by Universal Music. While that was cool at the time, the label this was done through (Re-Constriction) went out of business soon thereafter and the band broke up when I moved to New York only months later. Since that time, the record has been shelved. It's not available digitally anywhere, it's not on iTunes, and was never promoted outside of a very small window in 1997-8. It is a forgotten record. In my life, I've had literally hundreds of people tell me how influential the record was to them. While I don't actively promote the band anymore, and haven't done much since a brief 2003 "comeback," I strongly feel that this record should be available through modern outlets and not forever lost.
THE GOAL -
I’m starting this project with a box full of old DAT tapes and no DAT machine. The album was recorded with live analog synths and an 8 track Digidesign system, backed up to DAT tape. There were a lot of submixes and bounces to make it all work. For full disclosure, I have NO IDEA what is on these tapes. Ideally, I load them up, capture all of the original tracks, call a friend to replay the bass or guitar, and mix. I can promise, with absolute certainty, it will not be quite that simple. In the worst case scenario, I will be re-doing entire songs trying to capture the spirit of “back then.” The idea is to create/re-create the record with a modern aesthetic while keeping the core of the original album intact. I’m a decent producer, and feel more than able to meet whatever challenges lie ahead in reincarnating what I did 15 years ago but I will need to purchase gear from 1996-7 to make it happen. Currently I work producing bands, making music for advertising, and running a recording studio in Chicago. With your support, I will be able to shift my focus entirely towards this project. This release of In Radiant Decay will be digital only although I will be talking to a couple labels, should there be a demand for a new physical pressing.I've had supporters approach me about new material, re-releasing old material, shows, etc. for years. Here’s your chance to help make that a reality.
