All the music for my EP of cello-fusion originals is complete. All I need now is your help to get it mastered & pressed to CD & vinyl!
*Update* This is incredible! I am blown away by the immediate & resounding support from my friends, family, & fans. BUT THIS IS NOT OVER! $1,200 was the minimum I needed to finish the album. My goal from the start was to press this onto vinyl. If we can hit $2,000, every pledge of $30 or more will receive a vinyl copy of the EP. How cool would that be! So please, know that your pledge is still just as important!
Enough is enough! It's time for my music to be released upon the unsuspecting world, after years of dormancy! And only you have the power to bring this project to fruition!
This whole thing started shortly after I graduated from University of Miami. I had a vision: an album of my compositions, recorded and produced by those that were not only excellent musicians, but also wonderful friends. I didn't have a budget, I didn't have half the songs written, but I knew it had to happen. So the long process started, and from the very beginning there were setbacks: conflicting schedules, botched drum sessions, one piece that, despite multiple attempts, could not garner the right guitar solo. Yet we forged onwards, and by the time I was ready to leave for CalArts, I had the final mixes to my first-born, Some Dark, Beautiful Morning.
Life in Los Angeles was far removed from the day-to-day of my previous residence. I was fortunate enough to room with a graphic designer, and he agreed to help me out with branding & album art. Even still, I didn't have enough money to have a proper release of the album, and with school weighing heavily on my mind, Some Dark, Beautiful Morning slowly became an apparition, lingering in the back of my thoughts.
A year passed, and I found myself moving once again, this time to the Twin Cities, Minnesota. As I began to settle into this new lifestyle, I received a call from a friend in Miami. Fernando Perdomo, a great musician & friend, had started a record label, and he wanted to help me push the EP towards the finish line. We talked about how to best accomplish that, and you're looking at the result.
All the EP needs at this point is:
1. Mastering, which is essential to give the album cohesion
2. Pressing of the EP to CD (and hopefully vinyl!)
3. A release concert, after which the EP will be released online (2/26/11, Kitchen 305, Miami Beach)
Since the release date is set, I'm banking on your support. A small donation can go a long way. Please give what you are able, and thank you so much for your generosity.
P.S. I'm really hoping that I can get enough funding to press the EP to vinyl, but they are much more costly than CD's. So here's the deal: If I can raise $2,000 or more, I will offer everyone that pledged $30 or more a limited-edition LP of the album!
