The Appliance Art Revival is a social and environmental awareness event that incorporates many types of "reuse art".
With a contribution to the Appliance Art Revival, you are supporting job skills training for low income individuals, responsible waste disposal and reuse.

The Appliance Art Revival is a celebration of creative reuse. This unique event is an awareness building vehicle for several very important social and environmental issues facing American society. As well, it is a fun and exciting way to promote the job training and responsible waste disposal services of Bellingham's job training non-profit, Appliance Depot.
As a project of community owned and operated non-profit ReUse Works, Appliance Depot is tasked with both providing low cost goods that have been salvaged from the waste stream and offering low income individuals with job skills training and assessment. For nearly 7 years we have been reclaiming resources and rehabilitating society's underprivileged in the hopes of affecting a greater awareness towards social empowerment and environmental stewardship.
The Appliance Art Revival is the only event of its kind that we know of and we take great pride in the community strengthening opportunity it provides. The diversity of participants and attendees that come together around such universally respected values is truly amazing.
In years past, Appliance Depot has been able to provide this event to the community through the income of the our re-conditioned appliance sales. However, this year, due to what we assume is the sluggish economy, we are unable to cover the costs that are necessary to organize and promote it properly.
Because of this, we are seeking the support of the "global" community to assist this "local" endeavor. The event is, of course, open to all comers and participation has no geographical limit. We would hope that all those capable of reaching our corner of the planet, would come and enjoy the excitement and cheer on the mission.
The Appliance Art Revival includes:
- An Appliance Derby Race- Derby carts are creatively assembled by community teams from discarded appliance parts and other found items to be raced to the cheers of the audience.
- An Appliance Art Auction- Art pieces of many types, sizes and medias are put on display and viewed throughout the month of May. The pieces are auctioned off the evening of the event, directly after the race.
- Live Music- Local bands light up the crowd as they peruse and bid on the art.
- Food, Beer and Fun- The world famous Boundary Bay Brewery provides food and beverages to the attendees throughout the event.
Remember, this is not a conference or a lecture or a symposium. This is a CELEBRATION of universal values and a chance for the community to gather in support of the message they want to send to the world.
Thank you for your support!
