For the MOST BASIC BACKER: You'll receive one set of the 27 Animal Alphabet postcards, bound in an attractive paper band, and sent to you via first-class mail. (International backers should use the alternate reward below.)

For the POSTCARD SAMPLER: You will receive one set of the Animal Alphabet postcards, plus one copy of "Stepan Crick and the Chart of the Possible," a ten-page full-color comics story in a fantasy milieu, serialized on ten postcards, which I drew with my buddy Mike Wenthe.

For the BASIC POSTCARD OR ANIMAL FAN: I will send two brand-new and unwritten sets of the cards to you, each bound with an attractive paper band, for you to send or to use as you see fit. (Outside the United States, shipping will cost an additional $10.)

For the INTERNATIONAL POSTCARD FAN: If you live overseas and support at this level, you'll receive ONE set of cards, unwritten and for you to send, via first-class international air mail. Perfect if you're a Postcrosser!

For the PAPER IMPROVEMENTS SUPPORTER: You'll receive two sets of the postcards, each bound in an attractive paper band, plus one sheet of four or six high-quality vinyl stickers with art taken from the project. You will also receive a sense of happy satisfaction for having helped make the final printed product look really nice! (Outside the U.S., add $10 for shipping.)

For the REGIMEN: I will send one complete set of the cards to you, one at a time, in alphabetical order, over the span of six months (or maybe a little more). I will write messages on the back of the cards about what's going on in my life and so forth. This pledge amount covers the printing cost of the cards and 27 domestic postcard stamps. (For backers outside the U.S., the postage will cost an additional $21.)

For the ARMCHAIR QUARTERBACK: You get two sets of the postcards, each bound with an attractive paper band. Plus, if you select this reward before August 23, you get to tell me what to put on that band. I will contact you shortly after you make your bid (via message here on Kickstarter) to ask you to tell me three animals; I'll make sure that two of those three appear on the obi (or belly-band) around the postcard packet.

For the STICKIER STICKER STICKLER: After you select this reward level, I will contact you to ask you to pick out one of the animals from one of the preview postcards on this page or in the updates section. I will put that animal on some small (1.5") circular vinyl stickers, and you will get two sheets of stickers that include the animal you chose (plus three others). You'll also get two sets of the postcards!

To REALLY LEARN YOUR ABCs: You get one set of the postcards, plus one set of Rich Barrett's complete Animal Alphabet flashcards. Seriously, for the right sort of little kid this reward would be gold.

For the FAN OF POE (OR DANNY KAYE): You'll receive one set of postcards, plus a high-resolution full-color print of Sam Wolk's drawing of "I is for INCHWORM" or "R is for RAVEN."

For AN INORDINATE FONDNESS FOR POSTCARDS. You will receive five sets of the postcards, to send, to give as gifts, or to use as you see fit.

In order to RAISE POSTCARD CONSCIOUSNESS: Not only will you get a set of cards mailed to you gradually, as listed above, but you'll get two more sets of the cards (at the beginning of the project) that you can send to someone else. (For backers outside the U.S., postage will cost an additional $25.)

For AN INORDINATE FONDNESS FOR POSTCARDS. You will receive five sets of the postcards, to send, to give as gifts, or to use as you see fit. (For international backers, postage will increase the price by $17.00.)

For ALL YOUR POSTCARD ARE BELONG TO US: You get one of every postcard I have published. That's the new Animal Alphabet set, plus 24 New Haven postcards, a fantasy comic serialized on 10 postcards, 8 botanical macro photos by Damien Jay, and 5 postcards of Tuscan door knockers (really). International backers should add $10 for postage.

For the PRIMATE COLLECTOR. You get one set of the postcards, plus Lupi McGinty's original watercolors for "I is for Indri" and "M is for Mandrill." Each is 2.5" by 3.5". That's trading card size!

For the MEXICAN HAIRLESS FAN: You get one set of the postcards, plus Ben Towle's original art for his Xoloitzcuintle entry in the Animal Alphabet. Art is 6" x 6", in ink and watercolor, alert, and suitable for framing!

For the ELEMENTAL OLD-SCHOOL GAMER: You get one set of the postcards, plus Ben Towle's original art for his Xorn entry in "Alphabeasts," the follow-up project to Alphabooks. Art is 6" x 6", india ink and ink wash, and totally awesome.

For the ODDMENT COLLECTOR: You get one set of the postcards, plus an archival-quality print by Leah Palmer Preiss of either her "R is for Robin" or her "U is for Ulysses Butterfly." (Your choice.)

For the LAZY LASAGNA-LAPPING LYNX LOVER: You'll get one set of the postcards, plus Henry Eudy's original watercolor art for "L is for LYNX."

For the NOMAD OF THE TIBETAN PLATEAU: You'll get one set of postcards, plus Henry Eudy's original watercolor art for "Y is for YAK."

For the FAN WHO HAS TO COME FIRST: You'll get one set of the postcards, plus Rob Ullman's original ink drawing for "A is for AARDVARK"—the drawing that started this whole Animal Alphabet project!

For the ANTIPODEAN ANIMAL AFFICIONADO: You'll receive one set of the postcards, plus Rob Ullman's original ink drawing for "W is for WALLABY." It's cute, isn't it.

For the SUPER DUPER PAPER BACKER: You''ll receive fives sets of the postcards, each bound with an attractive paper band, and two sheets of stickers with art drawn from the project. You'll also receive a sense of superior satisfaction, knowing that you were partly responsible for giving the cards a sturdy, healthy life. (Outside the U.S., add $17 for shipping.)

For the PATRON OF THE ZOOGRAPHICAL ARTS: You will receive two sets of postcards, plus one original 6" x 9" full-color (watercolor) cartoon portrait of THE ANIMAL OF YOUR CHOICE. If you prefer, for example, "O is for Otter" (instead of our ostrich and octopus), here is the reward just right for you!

For the SUPPORTER AND DISTRIBUTOR: I'll send ten sets of the cards to you, for you to send or to sell or whatever you see fit. Maybe you have a wall that needs decorating, or maybe you want to represent the Alphabet Press at a local comics convention or something. (Only available within the U.S. except by prior arrangement.)
