After 15 years as a professional sideman, it's time to make my debut record! (CD...album...er...whatever)
I'm extraordinarily excited to have just recorded my first CD as a leader. I've written all new music and am proud to have a fantastic band to play with.
Ulysses Owens, Jr. played drums (and has been one heck of a good producer), Gerald Clayton was on piano, Ron Blake on saxophones, and Freddie Hendrix on trumpet. Matt Baranello joined us to play percussion on one cut and Michael Dease played some wonderful trombone on two songs. And in a last-minute coup d'etat Selloane Nkhela laid down some amazing vocals on "Nouakchott".
It sure was swinging!
The material, band, rehearsals, and actual recording went great - your contribution will be invaluable towards offsetting the costs involved in this project, called "Driven".
