A few months ago I finished writing my first book, a piece of gay-themed erotica called Backwoods. It's about the steamy underside of rural America; the back roads, back doors, and back rooms of a town called Groom, Pennsylvania. I conceived it as a porno version of Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio, with separate but interlocking stories about gay guys, married guys, and high school wrestling coaches (among others). Hopefully a lot of it is boner-rific, but also sort of romantic and evocative.

I'm a big fan of erotic illustration, and it's been a long-time dream of mine to have my fiction illustrated by a top-notch artist. I'm beyond stoked to report that one of my favorite erotic artists, Michael Kirwan (link NSFW), is on board with providing eight black and white drawings to illustrate various scenes in Backwoods (and one full-color cover illustration), which will be interspersed throughout the finished volume. The end effect will be an illustrated book like Alice in Wonderland only, you know, not for kids. At all.

Backwoods was just recently picked up by a publisher, Rebel Satori Press (woo-hoo!). So far my experience with them has been great, but they are a small press and don't have the funds to offer me an advance or to assist me in purchasing the illustrations. So I am putting my faith in the masses!

I'm hoping to raise $1500, the total cost for the illustrations (it's $150 per b&w and $300 for color). You'll be helping to support two artists, myself and the illustrator, as well as assisting in the creation of what I think is going to be a kick-ass book.
