Rural Route returns to screen films from the fields, mountains, deserts & beyond! After a temporary hiatus we are back & ready to go!

After a successful initial run from 2003-2008, the Rural Route Film Festival looks to return to full-form in 2011.  We plan to kickoff at several new substantial locations in one of New York City's best neighborhoods.  Rural Route will make its New York City return from August 5-7 at the fabulously-remodeled Museum of the Moving Image w/additional screenings w/Rooftop Films on top of the city’s largest rooftop farm tended by local-urban-agrarians, Brooklyn Grange.  Both venues are in close proximity to each other in the cozy, multi-ethnic neighborhood of Astoria, Queens – a first for us in this fun-filled borough just minutes from Manhattan!  All extremely exciting, as we hope to begin a new era for RRFF this summer w/such a terrific, original, and ultimately-fitting set-up!

The return of Rural Route looks to be more fun than ever, and a brand new era, featuring international films from Uganda, Tibet and Pakistan; green/farming films from rural AND urban spots across the country, and a plethora of short films that will make you laugh, make you think, make you cry, and maybe even make you get out there and do something!

While we always do an off-season tour across the country and around the world (in fact, the reason we have been absent for a few years is due to an extensive world tour through all 7 continents), it is important to have a strong core event at home in New York.  We are intent on creating a real community event within Astoria.

We need your help to make sure this beautiful blueprint comes to life.  Your contribution will go to help pay for printing costs, promotions, filmmaker/guest expenses, shipping, technical expenses, post-production services to format the movies correctly and to replicate DVDs for press and publicity.

It's a lot of fun promoting awesome films and throwing a big party to show them all, but it takes a lot of hard work and, unfortunately, a decent amount of money.  Please, show your support and help get Rural Route up and going again!  Plus, you'll get some cool stuff in return!
