Two more stretch goals obliterated- 79% of the way to 5000 backers
There are 10 days left to go, and thanks to all of you, it’s been a fantastic campaign.
I released a new episode a last week with a Kickstarter update and new story by my friend Sean Cole, who you may know from the Concrete Furniture episode (#17) of 99% Invisible. He is also a producer of the much-loved Radiolab. Sean is a poet and one day while walking around NYC with a friend, he stumbled across a monument to two of his poetry heroes. It’s great. Have a listen:
We have less than 10 days to get 1,000 more backers and an extra $10,000 from the Design Matters Institute. We may need a little push to make it, so if you’re inclined to spread the word and encourage your network to pledge any amount, that could make a huge difference. Everyone’s investment in the show goes a little further if we hit this goal. The Design Matters Institute is Debbie Millman’s brand new effort to bring design education, inspiration and advocacy to all people, everywhere.
Beating the latest stretch goal gives us the funds to design a proper website for the show, which I’m really excited about. I used Tumblr as a free solution when the show began, but it’s not searchable or stable enough and I get a fair number of complaints about it. Thanks for making that possible!
Another amazing side effect of this fund raising effort is that it has raised awareness of the show to new levels and we’re going to have nearly 700,000 downloads for the month of July. That’s the most ever, by a lot.
Producer Sam just sent his computer and three huge boxes to my house and he's leaving Baltimore any day to come work here at 99% Invisible/Public Radio Remix HQ. This is really happening!
Thanks so much!

Never mind Samuel Plimsoll, let's raise a cheer for all of us. A few days I was feeling disconsolate that the 5000 seemed so far away, so I'm feeling extremely cheered by what this means. Not just that an extra 10,000 will go into the coffers, but that this milestone demonstrates that folks actually welcome an opportunity to pay for the work they love and listen to when they're given the opportunity.

I have to say that it was through the KS campaign that I discovered 99%. Somehow it appeared to me in KS and it caught my attention. I watched the video but wasn't entirely sold as the video really didn't give a good indication (to me at least) as to what the show was about. I was however curious enough go go the iTunes and subscribe and after listening to the last 5 programs that had been posted I was sold. I came back to KS and backed the project.
Congratulations - looking forward to many more shows.
