A durable and oceanic whale stapler for all your stapling needs
A Whale Stapler
The whale stapler is a custom designed hand cast resin whale stapler.
The kickstarter funds will be used for materials and start up costs necessary for an initial production run.
For the past year I've experimented and researched to determine the very best way to produce the whale stapler.
Durable and Functional
The heavy weight of the resin combined with a strong spring in the stapler mechanism ensures an accurate and effortless stapling experience. I also use a stapler mechanism that doesn't have that annoying spring coming from the roof of the magazine that is superfluous and a source of many stapler malfunctions.
The whale stapler is ergonomic and compact. It holds a half strip of staples and measures approximately 5.5 inches in length and is 3 inches in height.

How The Whale Stapler is Made
Models of the whale stapler parts are first designed and hand carved in basswood. These models are then used to produce silicone rubber molds. The finished stapler parts are cast in the molds in durable urethane resin. These parts are then attached to a high efficiency stapler mechanism. (I wish I could make the stapler mechanism by hand too, but some things are best left to metal stamping machines). The stapler is then hand painted, the eyes are attached, and adjustments are made to ensure that the finished product is the most durable and staplerable whale stapler ever.
Species Options
Every supporter can choose among three whale stapler species:
North Atlantic Grey
Killer Orca
Sargasso Pink
Please note that Sea World Orca and Sargasso Pink are still in development and the final staplers will look better once I find the best paints for these. I just had to post this information quickly while the kickstarter project was still active.

Believe the Hype
The video was filmed using an early wooden prototype of the whale stapler and a sort of lumpy early test version in resin. The final whale stapler for delivery is sleeker and svelter but still feels like a true handmade stapler, not some mass produced whale rolled off a conveyor belt.

FAQ
-
It is a whale and a stapler.
-
No! The video used a very early prototype based on a poor quality officemax stapler. The whale stapler staples so effortlessly that most people, after pressing on the whale head, are surprised to look at their paper and see a staple there!
-
The whale stapler is smaller than a real whale. It holds a half-strip of staples and measures about 5.5 inches in length and 3 inches in height.
-
There is a mix of male and female whale staplers, but the problem is it's really hard to tell the difference by looking at them. Really the only way to know for sure is to get two, wait, and see if a third one appears.
-
Yes, the whale stapler is fully aquadextrous, and specimens have even been sighted in the deepest recesses of Lake Baikal and forgotten storage room filing cabinets. But they most prefer an accessible desktop environment and regular exercise.
-
Not any more. The original version did, but it kept getting jammed with staplers and seaweed.
-
No whales were harmed. But I'm sorry to say that one whale stapler was harmed filming the ocean scene. But fear not, the stapler underwent a exhaustive restoration and is once again fully staplerable.
-
What does the Whale Stapler eat? Is it a filter feeder or does it need a steady diet of giant squid?
As you may have discerned, the whale stapler does not include a whale torso nor the back-end of a whale. Accordingly, the whale stapler has no digestive system. Thus, you must only feed its head.

Thanks for your important question. I assume that the aliens are smarter than us, because they found us first. It is still doubtful, however, that they will be technologically advanced enough to achieve a paperless existence, which is just one step below pure thought and/or worshiping nuclear weaponry. The question then turns on whether these are normal aliens, or whaliens. To put it another way, in the future, every whale will be a stapler for 15 minutes, and vice versa.
-
David, your question was so long and complex, I had to post the end of your question as a separate FAQ. See my answer above.

Still didn't fit. This is part 3 of your questionovella.
