Update #22: Progress, Progress, and More Progress!!!
We've been able to obtain much-needed research materials for the book for Computing. We are also hard at work on our first lecture, which is now scheduled for Friday, February 24th, at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View. I've chosen to speak about computing and war, titled Woven on the Loom of Sorrow. You can read the details about our lecture here. If you happen to be in the Bay Area that day, we've love to have you attend! Seating is limited, so please register (and pass on the word to your family and friends and colleagues who are in Silicon Valley - we'd like to pack the house!). The Museum will be recording the lecture and we'll make it available for viewing on the web. While we are at the Museum, we'll also be recording individual human experience stories for our YouTube channel. Speaking of recording, and thanks to your help, we've obtained the equipment we need for our Ask Grady videos (and we'll produce our first one after our first lecture).
We are also almost done fulfilling all the rewards for our Kickstarter project! Most of the letters and magnets have been mailed and we have a backers page on our website. Take a look - you might see someone you know! We've also created some cool charts to show the demographics of our backers. Bet you didn't know that we have over 70 different professions represented in our backers! For those of you who want a widget that you can proudly display on your website you will find it here. For those of you whose rewards included membership and other gifts from the Computer History Museum, be on the look out for an email directly from the Museum regarding redeeming your rewards. I have also done many of my mentoring calls (but still need to finish the rest as well as do my thank you calls!).
Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU! Your contributions mean so, so much to us! We have been able to make amazing progress on Computing because of you!
Update #21: Reward Status
First and foremost thank you immensely and sincerely for your support of Computing: The Human Experience. We are very excited about the progress we will be able to make on Computing because of YOUR help!!!!
We are currently making a list and checking it twice so we may send out the promised reward(s) for your Kickstarter contribution. Magnets have arrived, stationary for the handwritten notes has been designed, and everything is coming together quite nicely! We’ve even already started putting the Kickstarter funds to good use by ordering the first set of books for research and are busily planning the first lecture. Date and details of the lecture will be announced shortly. All of this thanks to YOU!
Unfortunately, while checking our list twice we noticed that about a hundred of you have not filled out the survey sent to you by Kickstarter. Without the information in that survey we can't send you your reward, so if you are one of the many people who haven't filled out the survey please do so right away! (If you didn't get it, please check your spam folder or email us)
Thank you again for your time and dedication to ensuring Computing: The Human Experience evolves into something that current and future generations may appreciate for years to come!

I made a symbolic contribution. I'm not sure I'm expecting a form, can you clarify.

Update #20: Happy Dance!
As promised, I've done my happy dance, in celebration of you helping us successfully fund our Kickstarter project! You'll find the video here on our YouTube channel.
Thank you again, all of you, for your support for Computing: The Human Experience.
All of you have truly made me very, very happy!
(Just to be clear, I'm keeping my day job, and have no aspirations to try out for Dancing With The Stars.)
Update #19: SUCCESSFUL!!!!
Thanks to all of you, WE ARE SUCCESSFULLY FUNDED!!!
We are 121% funded at $30329.66!!!! We have 349 backers from 22 countries!
So what is next? Well, now the hard work starts! We will work on fulfilling all of our promises to you. We will launch our lecture series, create a number of "Ask Grady" videos, and we will research and write a book. We also will be fulfilling your rewards!!!
Kickstarter will be sending you a survey which you will need to fill out with your contact information so that we can deliver your rewards. Even if you are not receiving a reward through the mail, we would appreciate it if you would provide us with your location - that information will help us show funders that computing truly is a global story! For those of you receiving rewards from the Computer History Museum, that portion of your reward will be sent to you through their gift store and so expect more than one mailing with your rewards.
Oh yes, I am working on my happy dance and will soon have it posted on YouTube. (How did I let my wife convince me to agree to this...it seemed like such a good idea at the time!?!)
Once again, thank you so very much for your generous support of Computing: The Human Experience. I am deeply touched.
And now the journey continues!
