Writer/Director Rubidium Wu trained as a painter, but like many artists of his generation, became fascinated with emerging technologies and the new worlds they could create.
Over the last 10 as a filmmaker, he produced the art documentary 'Portraits of Silence' as well as directed commercials for Nike, Playstation, and Nintendo.
Originally from Australia, Rubidium now lives in Brooklyn, New York.
hey, i don't want to sound goofy, but i find this pretty exciting :)
The spaces for filming look amazing! I wish I lived close enough to NYC to come see some of it in person but, hopefully I'll make it across the country later this year and can track some of these places down to peek at in person. Thanks for posting the pictures. Living vicariously through the images.
Congrats !
Congrats.
Wonderful news! Can't wait for the apocalypse!!
Congrats on reaching the first goal, can't wait to see this!
Gratz on reaching your goal...
50-Dollar Follow Focus is proud to be the 190th-something backer. I can't resist a good post-apocalypse.
Ah! You made the goal!
Fabulous! Looking forward to the pre-production post-apocalypse! YAY, Rb!
Grats!
$30 more to go, someone upgrade their pledge, I did :)
Takes me back to my younger days in the 1980's, when post-apocalyptic movies were all the rage . Back then they weren't so existential, though - any problems one encountered were easily solved with massive amounts of shootin' and killin'. And there were no zombies - just barbarians of some kind dressed in leather bondage gear. I'd say this art form has truly evolved. Can't wait to get my DVD! Come one, people, only $646 to go!
$800 left in 15 days - looking very promising!
Also I have to say this. So don't be offended. Rubidium Wu sounds like the name of a new element on the Periodic Table. It would be an element that while being radioactive, it might also give someone a cool extra power.
My god I cannot wait for this. I love all things Post Apocalypse and most things Zombie. I love the Undergrounder concept.
Thanks Michael! Very generous article. We'll strive to be worthy - Rb.
Well, we're not quite Huffpost, but here ya go:

Hey guys - happy to support this project!
I do a weekly interview podcast centered on NYers called The MyNY Podcast. It's a very free-flowing styled interview, often with artists here in the city. If you'd like to come on, email me @ mynypod@gmail.com http://mynypod.com
After seeing the trailer I was hooked and had to pledge to be a zombie. Now all I need to know what kind of zombie will I be? Are you looking for slow moving Or fast? I'm practicing to be the best back up zombie ever. Good luck and hope to see this project fulfilled.

I love the idea of using relatively deserted places (esp in such a dynamic, vital, busy place as New York City) as the backdrop of this project rather than a set. It's intriguing to me to think of finding silence is such a place. I love the photos you've posted and I love that there are places in NYC that are overgrown, that it's not all glass and steel. These are my thoughts.
Since your project is called "The Silent City" I thought it to be obvious to not blare the comment section with incessant padding-on-the-back for what you are producing but leave it silent? Seriously, this is great stuff. As a citizen of New York, I can only dream of having it all to myself, silent, no jackhammering, no police sirens, no random crazy guy talking to himself on the sidewalk, and without the cab honking. Keep up your work!
btw.. first comment, what do I win? :)
I read and I obey.
