::THE STORY::
One Million Voices is a feature-length documentary about Colombian engineer turned social media activist, Oscar Morales. In 2008, Oscar created a Facebook group called "One Million Voices Against FARC" that organized the largest protest in global history. Since this life-changing event, Oscar has engaged in a perilous, highly debated “life’s mission” to continue to collaborate with other online organizers around the world.
One Million Voices will
provide yet unseen access to the world’s most successful
online activist and his undeniably eccentric personality. With numerous
threats on his life still looming and personal relationships suffering,
Oscar will guide us through the complicated politics and social
maneuvering it took to mobilize tens of millions of people on almost
every continent. It's a very human story - a 21st century David vs. Goliath.
One Million Voices will also explore the topic of social networking for political change. Oscar's past efforts are now proving instrumental in inspiring other online activists to create successful social revolutions - but also drastic instability in places like North Africa. We will get Oscar and other key social media players like Director of Google Ideas, Jared Cohen and Egyptian activist Ahmed Salah to share their perspectives on the potential successes and dangers of this new hyper-connected political world.

Social networking has changed the world. People from distant nations can connect instantaneously, sharing content, comments and ideologies. Social media has given people the power to produce change in their lives by bridging the gaps between the most common citizens. It's the first real tool to potentially create world peace. However, social media also poses very real dangers. Will revolutions begin based entirely on people’s ideologies or actually be based on national needs? As one of the very first political activists to mobilize social change via the Internet, Oscar Morales has a story and a perspective that needs to be presented to people around the globe.
In One Million Voices, we will follow Oscar’s very human journey from young engineer to internationally known hero. Social networking has given the potential to change the world and Oscar’s story is one everybody needs to see. To get this project off the ground, we need your help. ::HOW YOUR PLEDGE WILL HELP::
Oscar is constantly on the move. A world traveler whose reach knows no borders or language barriers. To this point, this has been an independently-funded film but for us to really see Oscar's efforts we have to take it to the next level.
Right now, we hope to raise initial funds to help secure travel and accommodation. We will be moving with Oscar as he speaks at summits and conferences to teach young activists the tactics that made One Million Voices Against the FARC so successful. Oscar has recently moved back to Barranquilla, Colombia, after nearly 4 years abroad. This transition opens up deep questions about his future, but will make travel expenses that much more vital. It’s a tremendous filming opportunity to see Oscar back in his home nation.
Additionally, we have a list of other subjects we'd like to reach out to - like Oscar’s collaborators, author David Kirkpatrick, Egyptian activist Ahmed Salah and former US Department of State Policy Planning Staff, Jared Cohen. These people are in various locations around the world so it will be vital to have funds enabling us to get exclusive interviews about their partnerships.
At this point, we hope to raise enough start-up funds ($25,000) to achieve our initial production goals. However, we don't want to stop there. All the funding we can raise at this point will be a useful step in bringing us closer to finishing the film.

En este momento, esperamos conseguir recursos para asegurar los viajes y el alojamiento. Estaremos acompañando a Oscar en sus conferencias y encuentros para enseñar a jóvenes activistas acerca de las tácticas que hicieron que "Un millón de voces contra las Farc", fuera una iniciativa tan exitosa. Oscar ha regresado recientemente a su casa en Barranquilla, Colombia, luego de casi 4 años de estar lejos.
