Oh Judwan!
We’ve just got a new Season 2 team!
And here they are:

Jake’s also been digging around and has found out more about the Judwan for us:
The Judwan are a placid, calm and peaceful race. How they got to be exiled from their home planet, and how they ended up playing DreadBall is a long story that must wait for another time. Suffice to say that they were unfortunate in revering a land under which considerable mineral wealth lay, and doubly unfortunate in lacking a formal military.
DreadBall has provided them with both a focus for their time and a means to raise funds for their eventual return. It has been a long struggle, and is likely to go on for many years yet, but as long as it does the many fans of DreadBall will be more than happy to watch the unique Judwanese style on the arena floor.
The tiny number of Judwanese teams play an odd game of DreadBall. The have neither Guards nor Jacks and do not try to damage their opponents. Instead they simply outplay them. A Judwan Striker needs no glove to catch or throw the ball, instead using his long, lithe arms and slender fingers to launch the ball with as much or more speed than other races. Their games are fast and often surprising with a tendency to end suddenly in a 7 point landslide.
And that my friends are the Judwan – and it’s all thanks to your efforts!
Of course they need an MVP though…
$242,500 – Mee-kel Judwan, Superstar Sportsman MVP
What is there to say about this Superstar Sportsman other than if we hit this goal, we’ll sculpt him and include him free with Jack and Striker!

And you know what’s after that – we’ll pump your pledge full of new minis! Click here for details (otherwise this is going to be a massive post!) on what's coming at $250,000. Catch you all later!
Wait...
zzz – zzz
What’s that buzzing?

My favourite Z'zor would be the middle sketch. Multi-eyed spider or scorpio heads would be great, too!
Creator Matthew Wilkinson on September 16, 2012
No cape. Love the rest of the model!
Creator Thiago souza on September 15, 2012
Yes keep the hood
Creator Kris P on September 15, 2012
@ Eric & everyone else too.. :)
I really like the hood, the fact that it is "fantasy" based or derived shouldn't change the fact that it looks awesome.
From the practicality point of view, all the MPVs should wear helmets, and no players should be wearing and form of drapery to get a hold of but most do.
Keep the hood, it doesn't look too old for the future, besides how many sci-fi movies/shows have you seen with the cool loner, main protagonist, suave rogue or all of the prior wearing a hooded cloak.
Hoods aren't that medieval as you might think..
Keep the hood and give him a cool backpack or Pauldron style thingy.
Creator wouter on September 15, 2012
Perhaps you can make him bigger than the rest and get rid of the cape. He looks like a priester werking that thing. Another way might be giving him some high tech canopee like you see on 40k space marine psykers. Not a helmet as you can still see his face.
Creator Eric Mills on September 15, 2012
Second try at this...
@Kris: I agree that he should be easily distinguished from themrest of the team. I disagree that a cape is the way to go about it.
The cape is a fantasy trope stuck on to a decidedly scifi concept. It just doesn't fit.
From a "fluff" perspective, I imagine he would have gotten rid of it the first time a Marauder was lucky enough to get ahold of it. I have been pulled down by my hood playing football and that was not fun for me. At all, lol.
I agree with a few of the others who have said to give him a helmet. That, along with the armor style differences already present would distinguish him well.
Creator Kris P on September 15, 2012
@ Cheetor, I've explained why.. :)
Creator cheetor on September 15, 2012
I dont like the Judwans cape at all. There are numerous other less goofy ways to make the MVP distinct from the rest of the team. If tge rest of the team dont wear helmets then give the MVP one for example. A cape? Why?
Creator Robert Kancidrowski on September 15, 2012
Head two for me, gotta love those bug eyed monsters:)
Creator Brent Barber on September 15, 2012
I like the second Z'zor head, can't wait to see more art.
Creator Kris P on September 15, 2012
@ Darkson, and he looks just like the other Judwan..!
That's the point I'm trying to make, without something to distinguish him from the test of the team, he will simply blend in to the rest.. Even with his high catch pose, he still needs to have something extra.
Don't you agree?
@ Eric, the human MPV aka: Lucky Logan isn't wearing a helmet, that alone sets him above and away from the rest, and his armour style is said to be widely different than the standard armour of the Trontek's.
The Judwan, so far as we can see, don't wear any helmets..!! So having their MPV attired in the exact same way as the rest of them seems futile to the fact. You should be able to easily pick him out of the crowd, just like all the other MPVs, they all have theirown unique style and are unhelmeted (to an extent with Gorim).
The cloaked look is very fitting for their race, being exiled etc, so it makes perfect sense to make their MPV a manifested version of their history.
Creator Andrew Hayford on September 14, 2012
I like #2, then 1, then 3
Creator Sage Wright on September 14, 2012
Finally an insect team... Humans, orcs, dwarves, some rat things, classic alien-type, I wonder what 2 other teams are going to be
Creator Eric Mills on September 14, 2012
@Kris: Why must he have a cape? He could easily be distinguished by his different armor alone. Just like the human MVP.
Creator Darkson on September 14, 2012
All three bugs different positions on the team ftw.
If you look at the concept pose for Mee-kel it does not have a cape on.
The Judwan look like Kaminoans from Star Wars. Very cool design.
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kaminoan
Creator Kris P on September 14, 2012
No cape for Mee-kel...!!!?????
No way...!!!!
He must have a cape, he must I say..!!!
If you take his cape away he will be just another Judwan..., what's to denote his superior skill and stays if he looks the same as the rest...?
Creator Kai W. on September 14, 2012
@Eric My thoughts exactly. At first I thought this was new art for the Judwans.
Creator Pool Fan on September 14, 2012
I say bug head # 2. The other two have a longness that makes them too similar to the look of the Judwanese.
Creator Nick Chapman on September 14, 2012
I prefer No.2 for the Zz'or actually. Just seems the most "buglike", and from what we can see of the body, it looks a lot bulkier than the others (which fits my idea of what the Zz'or should look like!)
Of course, I'd be happy with any of them if it means we get a new team ;-)
As for Mee-kel, gonna have to vote No Cape as well. Just doesn't seem right....
Creator Mike Youtz on September 14, 2012
I vote for all three as well, with each intended for a different playing position.
Creator Y. Chung on September 14, 2012
+1 for no cape for me!
Creator Matt Houghton on September 14, 2012
From a painting and future development ideal like adding helmets or such I feel option 3 of the bugs is best but am drawn to option 1 but as said before different versions for different jobs , like worker ants and soldier ants for example - ants are related to wasps after all
Creator judgedoug on September 14, 2012
yeah, no cape!
and #2.
Creator ray bans on September 14, 2012
all 3 are nice, I see it as
1 - jack
2- guard
3- striker
Creator Eric Mills on September 14, 2012
Lose the cape on Mee-Kel. It is lazy design and completely nonsensical for use in a grappling sport, no matter how agile the wearer. I like everything else about him.
Creator Lordlupus on September 14, 2012
I'm fan of the middle but will prefer having all three as mentioned as a caste system. More variety is cool.
Creator Jason Newell on September 14, 2012
Middle head. Definitely.
Creator Jeremey H. on September 14, 2012
Either the left or middle... not a fan of the right.
Creator Travis Twahn on September 14, 2012
Yeah, middle head for me too I think. Provides a contrasting aesthetic to what to the sleek look that the other aliens have. :)
Nice updates and rewards team! Thanks. :D
Creator David Yellope on September 14, 2012
Missed a great opportunity with a pun in the title:
"Hey, Judvan" ;)
Creator Pseudohazard on September 14, 2012
I vote for the middle head as well.
Creator Omphalos on September 14, 2012
Personally, I prefer the middle head but it would be better with (very) long antenna.
Creator Bluerodeo on September 14, 2012
Another vote for the caste system
Creator Lachlan on September 14, 2012
I like the look of the middle one the best - it has a mantis like quality. The other's pointy heads put me off.
I also like the idea of a caste system as well :-)
Creator Chris on September 14, 2012
I like the Third face best. I will say i much perfer the eyes of the first and third options.
Creator Jonathan Haythornthwaite on September 14, 2012
I agree with Kevin here- a caste system/feudal monarchy of drones and soldiers with Z'zorr 'royalty' (Queens?) at the top of the hive! A is my favourite concept I think, and the mandibles from B- are they a fairly sophisticated/cultured race or just "alien killing machines" (I hope for the former!)?
Just a thought, but how about a chitinous 'helmet' to go with the armour? J.
Creator Lee Lowe on September 14, 2012
Nice liking A alot
Creator Kevin Behan on September 14, 2012
Why only pick one, when you can have all three? Imagine a caste-like system, where what body you're born with determines your role in the hive. B makes good guards, C makes good strikers, A makes good jacks.
It'd be especially cool if, going into BB terms here, the strikers have wings which give them the 'leap' ability from Bloodbowl. That is, they can make an agility test to jump over players.
Creator Martin Dickson on September 14, 2012
Agree with Kiwamu. Although B might make a good guard. :)
Creator Kiwamu on September 14, 2012
For Z'zor Antenna from A, Face from C ( with mandibles )
Creator Norb on September 14, 2012
Maybe the Mystery MVP is of a bird-like race and can have a name like, "David Beakham"?! What has to be really done is bring back Hawk from Buck Rogers of the 25th Century, http://sharetv.org/shows/buck_rogers_in_the_25th_century/episodes/146507
I saw Erin Gray a.k.a. Col. Wilma Deering a couple years back and she still looks fantastic!
Creator Haree78 on September 14, 2012
How about all of them in different positions? For gameplay it's a good idea to make each position easy to distinguish, what better than different bugs for different positions.
I prefer the middle out of the 3 though.
Creator Christopher Wood on September 14, 2012
The middle one, followed by the one on the right. Genuine bugs are an extremely underused image in miniatures; GW's Tyranids for example, with hooved feet, teeth filled mouths and tangues rather than mandibles, tails all point towards a space-lizard with bits of crustacean.
I want to see full on bugs, with mandibles, compound eyes, antenna, thorax, segmented wings, stingers, etc please!
Creator Lee Langston on September 14, 2012
All are cool, but the left one is my favorite...
Creator Norb on September 14, 2012
@Vegabond I was thinking along those lines, http://www.atomicthinktank.com/viewtopic.php…
Spiderman's nemisis, Beetle, comes to mind too, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Spider-Man_Web_of_Doom_3.jpg
Creator Paul Gabrielson on September 14, 2012
I like the middle one, four arms would be cool.
Creator Joseph Prozinski on September 14, 2012
I'm in the all three camp!
Creator Vegabond on September 14, 2012
Oh & is that shaded guy Shadowhawk?
Creator Mark Foster on September 14, 2012
Personally, I much prefer the middle version
Creator scarletsquig on September 14, 2012
Woo, Zz'or! Really excited to get a look at these.
#1 for Striker, #2 for Guard, similar to worker and warrior bees in hives. #3 isn't quite as cool, the antenna really add a lot to the design. Hard to make a judgement on just the heads alone without the body for context though.
Also came up with an interesting way in which these could be justified for the background - the hex grid of the dreadball pitch reminds them of their honeycomb homes... and then various types of zz'or pheremone gets implanted into parts of the pitch... queen zz'or pheremone for the home goals, zz'or larva phermone for the enemy goals, and zz'or honey phermone in the ball... so the guards naturally want to defend the "queen", and the strikers are compelled to collect the "honey" and bring it to the "larva". Just another conspiracy theory to add to Jake's ever-growing list. ;)
