Deadzone is the dynamic Tabletop Miniatures Skirmish Game set in the distant Warpath sci-fi universe, written by Jake Thornton, author of last year’s runaway Kickstarter success DreadBall – The Futuristic Sports Game.

Players control one of four unique factions, battling it out over scarce resources by combining deadly actions to lethal effect. The sci-fi backdrop of Deadzone is brought to life using the new modular Mantic Scenery Range adding incredible customisation to your battlefield. No game need ever look the same!

The Game

Deadzone is a 2 player miniatures game using D8s played with between 5-25 high quality Mantic miniatures:

Deadzone features:

- Sci-fi Skirmish System: Take command of a crack team of upgradable elite troopers from one of four factions including powerful heroes, troopers, heavy weapons and specialists.

- Modular 3D Environment: Deadzone is played using a flat, grid-based gaming mat that can be built up using Barricades and Buildings from our modular plastic Sci-fi Scenery Range.

- Equipment and Loot: Upgrade your troopers by collecting equipment and new weapons from the Battlefield, such as machine guns, medi-packs, grenades and more. But beware – you could be triggering a booby trap!

- Player Progression and Experience: Grow your team across the war as individual soldiers earn experience and advance through ranks, acquiring new abilities and awesome new weapons.

The Scenery

Deadzone is played amidst an urban warzone and includes a flat highly detailed gaming mat and sprues of our plastic Sci-fi scenery, allowing you to create a fully interactive 3D gaming environment!

The Scenery is broken down into bundles known as BattleZones - each containing 3 Buildings Sprues of approximately 6 tiles plus a Connector Sprue - from a set theme including the Core World Buildings BattleZones and the Landing Pad BattleZones.

Both the scenery-only pledge levels and the scenery add-ons allow you to choose a number of BattleZones to include in your bundle.

Scenery sprues are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Made in injection moulded plastic.

The Miniatures

Deadzone features all-new models for four individual factions:

The Enforcers

The Enforcers are the Council of Seven’s elite peacekeepers, dispatched to tackle threats that are beyond the scope of regular military units. Each is a superior soldier, trained in countless forms of combat and equipped with the best technology available.

Want to know more? Learn about the Enforcers!

The Plague

There have been increasing reports of a terrifying virus unleashed by alien artefacts scattered across the Expansion Zone. Each primary victim is twisted into a colossus hell-bent on spreading its contagion to new hosts. These second-generation victims suffer the same mutation to a lesser degree, becoming less massive but no less deadly.

The Rebs

The Corporation sells itself as a utopian society, but there are those among its citizens that disagree. For these free-thinkers, anarchists and dissidents there will always be the welcoming arms of the Rebellion.

The Marauders

The Marauders, trained by the Corporation as shock troops but defying their rule, are a terror of the shipping lanes, known for attacking cargo haulers and pillaging spaceports. They see a Deadzone as an opportunity too great to pass up, even if they have to fight their way through a fleet blockade to reach one.

Figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted in coloured plastic.

Now that we've exceeded our initial goal we will be able to introduce new models, new weapons, new types of scenery and new expansions - and of course we’ll have plenty of free stuff to add to your pledges too!

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

Because the figures are already sculpted the two biggest challenges posed to this project are production and shipping.

With two successful Kickstarters already delivered on time under our belts, we have the experience for a smooth packing and shipping operation, and the knowledge of the industry and the contacts to overcome any production issues we face - there's no problem that can't be solved!

Kings of War was our first Kickstarter and the first batch of that was shipped on time. What remained was the huge number of tools that needed to be completed for our second shipment. All of the models are now concepted and are in tooling, and are on course to ship in June. We just need them back from our toolmaker.

DreadBall is also full steam ahead with all of the models concepted, sculpted and with the toolmaker. Again we’re just waiting for them to come into our warehouse.

Furthermore, our writers and graphic designers and busy pulling together the remaining books and any of the additional rules contents, such as the Kings and Legends supplement and the Season 3 Rulebook and board. These are being handled by experienced project managers, freeing up our design studio to work on Deadzone - after all, we cannot have our creatives sat around doing nothing!

FAQ

  • The miniatures are in the industry standard 28-30mm scale (distance from base to eye level), and are therefore compatible with the vast majority of other miniatures and scenery on the market. The bases used in the game are again industry standards, being either 25mm or 40mm round bases.

However, being either alien, mutant, or superhuman, a lot of the models in the Deadzone game are slightly larger than regular humans. An Enforcer for example is 36mm from base to eye level unposed.

The scenery tiles are based on a 3" (75mm) grid. Every tile is this size as standard (with the exception of some 75mm x 37.5mm half tiles for walkways), with all accessories conforming to these standards so that the scenery can be assembled in any configuration imaginable.

  • All of the pledge levels for Deadzone have standard shipping included for US and UK packages.

Rest of World: If you live outside of the US or UK, such as Canada, Europe or Australia, please add $5 for standard Royal Mail shipping. If you are ordering an Assault Team Package, please add $10. If you are ordering a Suppression Team package, please add $15, as your parcel will need to be sent by courier (see below) due to the size.

South America and Africa – Courier shipping is mandatory for these continents. Please add $15 for courier shipping.

Courier Shipping – any backer can upgrade their reward to include tracked courier shipping for $15.

Please note - you only need to include one of these levels. For example, if you are in the EU and want courier shipping, you only need to add $15. You do not need to add the $5 as well.

  • All of the Kickstarter rewards will be shipped directly from our warehouse in Nottingham, UK, so all of our EU backers will not have to pay import taxes.
Last updated: Saturday Apr 27, 6:07am EDT
  • The two sets in the Recon level are fixed as the Enforcers and the Plague as the box will be pre-packed in our warehouse. Of course, if you pledge at the Strike Team level, you'll be able to get all four!

Last updated: Saturday Apr 27, 6:07am EDT
  • Simply message us through Kickstarter using the link at the top of the page, and we'll put you in touch with our trade team who can run through what's available and how to pledge!

Last updated: Saturday Apr 27, 6:07am EDT
  • Choose your reward level and then increase the pledge amount by the value of the extra(s) you'd like. For example, a Strike Team pledge + a T-Shirt would mean a total pledge of $175. We will then send a survey out after the Kickstarter so we can ask you what you want for the increased pledge amount.

This can be done using the "Manage my Pledge" button in the top right corner of this page. Just enter the total to cover your base reward level and any extras you like, and then once you submit the page Kickstarter will take you to Amazon to authorise the payment.

You can change your pledge value any time before the end of the project. No payment will be taken until the project is funded on June 2nd.

  • Here at Mantic we don't want to release figures through Kickstarter that will then penalise customers who miss out on the campaign. However, we do want to keep our Kickstarter exclusives a little bit special. Therefore, although our exclusive releases will never be sold at retail, they will be available later via the Mantic Points Scheme on our website, or offered as promotional figures at conventions that we attend.

  • Regardless of which reward level you choose, the miniatures will be supplied in coloured plastic - a different colour for each faction. They are not painted unless you select one of the reward levels from Central Command upwards.

The miniatures are also supplied in component form, with the exception of the Scientist reward level. As an entry level board game, the miniatures in this package are pre-assembled.
