Annabelle’s day is turned upside down when she stumbles upon a fairy under the spell of a nasty troll. When the sun is high in the sky the doomed fairy will be gone in a poof unless two believers see her at the same time. In her frantic search to save the little creature, Annabelle learns there is more to the world than she ever imagined. Seeing with her heart counts for so much more than seeing with her eyes.

Hi. I’m children’s book author/illustrator Sue Shanahan. I’ve written and am completing the illustrations for my picture book, Glory in the Morning. At it’s core, it's a fable about being loved for yourself and trusting your intuition. I want children everywhere to connect with that still small voice within and give themselves permission to trust their instincts. My goal is to bring Glory in the Morning to life as a book app and eBook. I will have the final illustration finished in a few weeks. At that point, I am going to need the art professionally scanned to retain the beauty and integrity of the originals. I also will need to hire a copy editor to make sure the format, grammar and punctuation are correct. Finally, after the app is in production, funding will go to hiring a consulting and marketing team to help with the task of promoting it. Today children’s book author’s and illustrators partner with their publisher to draw attention to their book and its message. Because there are over 500,000 apps listed in the app store, it takes real originality to get the spotlight on one.

Reaching my stretch goal of $7,500, means I'll have enough money to print a full color picture book. I want kids everywhere to experience the timeless beauty of Glory in the Morning. Not every child has access to an electronic reader, so I want the option of a printed book. If my stretch goal is realized, I will use the funds for the design, printing and marketing. l will also post rewards that include an autographed copy of the book. More money raised means more books will be printed.

Finally, I do have a real gift for capturing the likeness of my subjects. I thought an awesome reward would be to have your favorite child or pet in one of my illustrations. Below is an example of a greeting card illustration that I used my daughter Bridget's likeness in:

Although it’s no longer possible to have your child or pet included in Glory in the Morning, I'm a working illustrator and am always creating new illustrations for prints and cards, which they can be incorporated in. If you want to take it a step further, I have a reward that includes a portrait commission of your favorite child. You get to dream up the theme of the art. You can decide to have your child in a scene from the Wizard of Oz, like I did for my client Oprah Winfrey, or use an inspiration uniquely your own. Who wouldn't want to capture the magic of their child to hang on their wall?
