“Documentary lovers rejoice!” –David Day, Weekly Dig
“One of the liveliest and most important film series in these parts.” –Peter Keough, Boston Phoenix
WINNER, Special Commendation – 2012 Boston Society of Film Critics Awards
The DocYard is back! Boston’s premier documentary screening and discussion series starts up again on January 23. Every other week at the Brattle Theatre, we screen an award-winning independent documentary or a forgotten classic, followed by a Q&A discussion with the filmmaker and an after-party at Tommy Doyle’s in Harvard Square.
Since last year we have hosted 22 screenings, most of them Boston premieres, and brought some of best new talents in documentary film to our city from all over the world. Even though this can be expensive and makes it difficult for us to break even with ticket sales, we believe that having filmmakers join us is what transforms an ordinary screening into a community-building event for Boston's filmmakers, film students and film fans.
You can check out our Winter 2012 lineup here: www.thedocyard.com
We can’t wait to share more great documentaries and continue to watch this community grow. But to make it all financially sustainable, we need your help.
You can support our mission to bring great films and filmmakers to Boston by clicking the green button to the right and making a pledge. It only takes a minute and you can check out with your Amazon.com account. Your credit card won't be charged unless we reach our goal of raising $2500 by January 23.
If you pledge $50 or more, you'll receive a season pass for our upcoming program. That's 7 tickets for the price of 5. There are lots of other rewards at different pledge levels on the right side of this page.
Thank you for your continued support. Please follow us on Facebook, Twitter or sign up for our mailing list at www.thedocyard.com to stay in touch.
We'll see you at the Brattle!

“DocYard is to Boston what the Stranger Than Fiction series is to New York. Would that these two excellent documentaries screening series could and would replicate themselves in cities around the nation!” - Jennifer Merin, About.com
“From the great organizers (who really care about film), to the impressive turnout of local film lovers, awesome theater, drinks, food, conversation; DocYard was a perfect screening experience.” Darius Marder, Director Loot
“The DocYard attracts a remarkably eclectic audience and clearly moderates for an intelligent Q&A that spilled over into the bar. One of the more enjoyable screenings I’ve ever had.” Jane Gillooly, Director Today the Hawk Takes One Chick
“From a distributor’s perspective this is a fantastic opportunity to reach an engaged audience. We love Docyard!” -Ashley Sabin, Carnivalesque Films
“DocYard was one of my best screenings: the audience was plentiful, knowledgable, and stayed for a long Q & A. DocYard hospitality is the best: whether its the grandeur of Harvard Yards, the funky B&B, the stimulating meal beforehand or the great chat afterwards over drinks: and I made new friends who really really love films.” - Amy Hardie, filmmaker The Edge of Dreaming
“I attend screenings at The DocYard because it is equal parts great film, fascinating people, engaging Q&A’s, and incredible opportunity to network. There is really nothing like it in Boston!” – Bill Gallagher, Line Producer If a Tree Falls
