Star-crossed lovers meet in the afterlife in a group therapy session that is designed to help them deal with the struggle of death.

THE GOAL!

If death is only the beginning, what comes next? In life, Roy Harper, played by Josh Beren, was a man of “grand insecurities.” When struck by a bus he thought his problems were over. Turns out this was only the beginning of something new…

His problems followed him to the afterlife and the first thing he’s tasked with when he gets there is to put it all on the table in mandatory group therapy sessions. When the game is therapy for the dead, the journey is anything but ordinary. Taking lessons from a still suicidal Ernest Hemingway (Sandy Hale), Roy finds that the best place to find new life is here, in death.

Sharing the circle with seven other sadly deceased, Roy finds a familiar face… Cheryl Jenkins (Carrie Keranen). Roy knew and loved Cheryl in life but was held back by the insecurities he couldn’t get over. With the fresh new start of eternity, can he work past his issues and get what he never could in life? Through the adventures of this strange new world and the questions posed in therapy, can Roy and Cheryl work through their problems with sex, love, and death and find a way to be happy? What they come to find is that without each other, no.

SPREAD THE WORD

Getting the word out about this film is what will help ensure we meet our goal, so whether you contribute or not, tell your friends and family, link the page, email whoever might have an interest in independent film or the arts in general.  We know you know someone, so take a second to help us reach an audience.

There are so many ways to do it: liking us on Facebook, Tweeting us, or following us on the Therapy The Film Facebook page, Twitter account, and official website, where you'll find even more info about the film.  All of the links can be found below:

FYI

How does this Kickstarter thing work?

You will find to the right of the screen further up the page all the donation levels.  Each level has a corresponding award(s) in return for your contribution.  You will receive these awards in the timeframe listed below them.  You'll notice we have structured a lot of the awards cumulatively, so that as the donation level increases, the awards for that level are combined with awards from the lesser contribution levels.

All or nothing

If we don't manage to raise the entire amount of my goal money, no donations will be processed and we won't receive anything.  It would be really great if that didn't happen!  Let's make this the real thing, not just a dress rehearsal!

If we do reach my goal, we can continue to raise funds until our time has expired, so there is no limit to how much we are permitted to raise.  There are plenty of ways any extra money can be spent on this film (marketing, promotion, etc.), so just because we reached our goal doesn't mean we can't keep going!

THANKS SO MUCH FOR VISITING AND FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION!

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

The risks and challenges of a film this far along in the process are not nearly as daunting as those that face films just starting out, and though they do exist, we are confident that we will meet them with the same determination that we have met and surpassed the numerous obstacles that have arisen thus far.

The picture is locked. Dead Feather Moon is currently writing the score and shortly after it will be recorded. We have a few visual effects we can start working on, as well as coloring; at the same time ADR, foley, and sound mixing can all begin.

After the above the movie will be done and ready for the festivals. These festival submissions is what an overwhelming majority of the funds collected will be going towards and where most of the risk starts. Once we create the press kits and send it off to the festivals it's up to them not us whether or not it gets accepted. There is no guarantee that Therapy will be accepted to any festivals. If you believe in the team that created it and are now in charge of getting it into these festivals you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

This is the moment we’ve been waiting for and we’re ready for it!

FAQ

  • THE PROBLEM
Well, kind folks, I have recently been enlightened by my friends here at Kickstarter that if you have an Amazon password that is six characters or less you cannot connect your Amazon & Kickstarter accounts.

    THE SOLUTION
Simply change your Amazon password to something that is eight characters or more.  Then, make your pledge.  If you hate truly hate your new password, then after your pledge change it back.
