Did you see my Update Steve? TITANIUM - WOOOOO
Creator Steve Pappas on February 17
Hi All!
Responding to Brad's comment about annealing Ti if experimenting goes awry:
According to research, annealing is a heat treating method to help make titanium resist fracturing while increasing its ductility, or ability to be stretched into thin wire. Titanium is difficult to heat treat because it's more susceptible to contamination from various sources at high temperature such as air, moisture, dust, and grease.
Annealing is not a way to put a TacTiClip back into shape, and you wont' have to worry about it under "normal" use (or beyond normal use within reason :-)
Cheers!

Hi Daniel!
Thank you!
Yes, it's so cool!
And this is just the beginning.
Thank you so much for your pledge, support, and kind words :-)
Best,
Steve :-)
Creator Daniel Lundh on February 14
I'm really happy this was funded, it looks awesome in the video! So looking forward to getting mine!
Creator Brad on February 11
*Without Googling* Is there a way to anneal titanium, or some heat treatment of sorts to put the clip back to normal shape if I decided to do things I shouldn't try a home with it? I do know that applying heat to the clip will heat Anodize it into neat colors, which I will be doing when I get mine, but that's the extent of Titanium knowledge I have right now. Oh.. .and so do you have Wind Turbines on your Island so I have something to do when I come to visit you after my next project? :)
Creator Steve Pappas on February 11
Hi Alexandre!
You're welcome; my pleasure :-)
As a backer, you have a right to ask any and all questions you may have about the project and I am duty bound to answer!
Glad the answer was helpful.
Yes, can't wait to get them to you to share product!
Best,
Steve :-)
Creator Alexandre on February 11
thanks for the answer, i didn't question your quality product but had to ask lol. Yuour explanation was very precise and helpfull. Can't wait to get my hands on one of those :)
Creator Steve Pappas on February 11
Hi Alexandre!
Thank you for your kind words and question.
That little bit of deformation you see existed before the 50 3x5 index cards were inserted into the TacTiClip.
Check at 47 seconds into the video when I say ". . .this thin and sleek. . . " and you can see that the TacTiClip has that bit of deflection already.
This is my personal clip, which I have been using for several weeks and have "put through the wringer" so to speak.
It's held up in a most excellent manner, and has picked up that little deflection / deformation along the way.
You may experience this as well, depending upon how hard you work the clip, which would have to be pretty hard.
If this does happen, suggest you not bend it back the other way, but leave it in its "new normal" position.
This is what I've done.
What you want to avoid is working the clip back and forth through the spot where it may have deflected.
Of course, if you really bend it out of shape , which is quite hard to do, requiring much more than the equivalent of 50 3x5 index cards, you may have to consider bending it back, depending upon how far it has deformed.
So, try not to use more than 50 index cards worth of a material's width in the clip.
(I did not try the test with a brand new clip, and 50 index cards may "fly" with no deformation to speak of. Several of my tests went beyond 50 index cards worth of material width. For discussion purposes, we can say 50 index cards worth of width is a "working limit.")
Also, may I add that index cards vary in thickness, depending upon the manufacturer. The index cards I used in the video were from "Office Max."
And, that's for the large TacTiClip.
Have not performed the index card test with the small TacTiClip, but intuitively, something less than 50 index cards would be the limit before some minor deformation might occur.
The "don't try this at home" disclaimer applies :-)
Basically, under "normal" use, you should experience no deformation to speak of, even after extended use.
I'm still using the same clip, working it hard, but is has stayed the same as you see it in the video.
Finally, the more flexible the material is that you are storing in the clip, the more you can store.
This is best exemplified by the pictures above the video, which show the small TacTiClip holding 44 widths of currency easily. In this case, the currency bends to the TacTiClip rather than the other way around.
With thicker amounts of a relatively inflexible material, the TacTiClip will start bending to accommodate the material's characteristics and depth of stack.
Deformation really becomes a factor when you're inserting larger quantities of relatively inflexible material like index card stock or plastic cards.
Great question and hope this helps!
Please, more questions as you like!!
Thanks again for your kind word and best regards,
Steve :-)
Creator Alexandre on February 11
i love the project but more so the comitment and the way you treat the persons that back you up.
I have 1 question, in your bottom video where you show how the clip behave with a 20$ bill and a stack of 50 "cards" you mentioned that "no deformation whatsoever" but in the video you can clearly see a little deformation after the test on the stack of paper.
Is it the kind of small deformation that will go with a little bend from the other side or with time?
Thanks again and very nice project :)

Hi Brad!
Yes, that's one of the good ideas to consider along with anodizing and a couple of other things.
Not sure yet.
Will keep you posted.

Hey hey! Thank you both!!
Yes, a community is what you make it.
In this virtual "ecosystem of creation," which is one way of perceiving KS and other crowdfunding platforms, there is room for everyone to succeed. By helping each other, it just makes it bigger and more fun!
Yes, LOL, the "clip for chips," for those who have everything! :-)
. . .yes, really like multi-purpose designs -- always a good criterion to check against.
Thanks again and hope you're having a great weekend!
Steve :-)

Love it! The bag of chips image got me. Finally a wallet concept that has multiple uses, and at a great price too. Congratulations on reaching your goal - very well deserved!
