We'd like to follow the acclaimed Wave Cannon™ with the OLYMPIA fuzz. Support our project to be among the first to own one!
We are a small "guitar effect pedal manufacturing concern" in Columbia, South Carolina that is dedicated to American manufacturing, analog design, and rock and roll fun. All of our products are dreamed, designed, and created in our studio at the University of South Carolina Columbia Technology Incubator. Our first pedal, the Wave Cannon™ overdrive, won us user acclaim, the "Buzz Bin" and Platinum Awards from Guitar World magazine, and got our enterprise off to a running start. We build these by hand with a whole lot of passion, care, and soul. Now we are looking to kick things into gear with OLYMPIA, our new four gain stage fuzz.
We named it Olympia in honor of its '60s & '70s "hammer of the gods" fuzz roots, the sounds and Pacific Northwest setting of the '90s alternative renaissance, and the local neighborhood that is a home to our nascent music and arts scene here in Columbia. We intend to amaze with the Olympia - it is meaty, powerful, and dynamic; like Led Zeppelin’s classic performance of “Dazed and Confused” on the BBC Supershow in 1969. Our goal for our next fuzz is to inspire performances like this...and then go further. Nothing less. Failure is not an option. This is our standard: if it doesn't make you want to set your amps on fire in front of a bunch of hippies sitting around Indian style, and film it all in glorious Technicolor, then we have no business asking money for it.
The test builds have been completed, the lead user testing sessions and interviews have been overwhelmingly positive, and the enclosures are getting drilled and painted. Money from this Kickstarter will go towards finalizing circuit layout and graphics, getting our initial run of circuit boards tested and refined, completing this first batch of 50 handcrafted fuzzes, delivering the advance purchases to our contributors, and then introducing these pedals to our retailers. Thank you for considering our Kickstarter, and please let other people who might be interested know about it!

Our goal was something that crossed the lines between the kinds of tones you'd hear on early Zep and the Muff style fuzzes that were so prominent in 70s rock and 90s alternative. It sounds like FUN. Check out update #7 for a link to a sound file.

In the video, the guitar playing you hear behind the narration from roughly 1:00 - 1:25 and from 2:04 to close was a strat through one of the test builds into a tube amp. Update #7 also has a sound file.
-
The pedals in the video were just the project boxes. As this kickstarter has progressed, the graphics and powdercoating were finalized. You can see the progress in the updates.

Most definitely! We are stoked to be building these in our workspace in Columbia, SC. We believe that American rock and roll tones should be treated as a craft worthy of national pride, the way the French prize their fashion industry and how the Swiss value fine watchmaking.
