Launching my first solo record, promotional campaign and regional tour through the WHOA Label in November and I really need your help.
Help Dean Johanesen release his CD and launch his solo career with the WHOA Label
Amazing things are in the works for my music. I have recently signed on with the independent music label called WHOA Label / WHOA Records and I am extremely excited about what is in store this next year.
WHOA stands for Whats Happening with Original Artists and WHOA is also an internet radio station and magazine that promotes independent music and art. You can visit the web site to find out more about this great media outlet here: www.whoamagazineonline.com.
I met Anthony "Train" Caruso, the CEO of WHOA, at a solo show a couple of months ago and he seemed to really take a liking to my music. After a couple of weeks of coming out to see me play and a spot or two on the radio show, WHOA label offered me a deal to help release a solo record through their label.
I have been working hard for a number of years now to carve out a solid career in music on a full time basis. I have taken every gig I can get and I've been involved with several music groups as well as teaching music to pre-school aged children. All in an effort to make a living through music.
I have been responsible for bookings, press releases, calendar updates, event pages, writing songs, recording, basically wearing all the hats, so to speak on top of practicing, performing and supporting the family.
HOW WHOA WILL HELP ME
With this new opportunity through WHOA, I will be able to focus my attention on my music and have the ability to reach a much wider audience with their support. WHOA records will be helping me with the release of this CD as well as a follow up record, distribution, air play throughout 126 countries, a magazine feature for the release in November, a PR campaign through Working Brilliantly PR for press and radio air play as well bookings for a regional tour in support of the new CD.
All of this will be done in a "working smarter not harder" approach business-wise which is a necessity to everyone involved for keeping finances down. This is after all, an independent label.
WHAT YOUR DONATIONS WILL HELP ME WITH
The money raised through this Kickstarter Campaign will help me with CD duplication and promotional products. I will be using some of the funds to recoup a portion of the finances spent recording the record. Finally, your support will help me finish mixing and mastering the music as well as pay for design, artwork and photography costs. All of this in an effort to meet the deadline for WHOA and the Working Brilliantly PR firm so they can release and promote the new CD.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The risks and challenges that come with my project are sort of taken care of with the success of the over all Kickstarter fund raiser if I reach my goal.
The work behind getting the CD together is pretty much done except for the final mix / master payments and getting the duplication / replication process started.
The art work for the disc is in the works and with that, design work on T-shirts, Coffee Mugs and the promotional flyer with the QR code will follow suit. The PR company is working up my web page for the QR and bonus track now.
Photography and video fees have been budgeted in to this fund drive as well.
For some of the unique packages, such as the Paparazzi package, the Birthday Package and the Devil in The Details recording journal package, I will be putting those together over the time of the campaign and hopefully personalizing it to the folks that may contribute to receive those rewards.
For the performances that come with some of the packages scheduling will be a concern, but I am working closely with the booking agent from the WHOA Label to insure I will have opportunities to book those events for supporters who are kind enough to take part in and contribute for those rewards.
I will continue to work hard, and in all reality, even harder and with more focus in the coming months to overcome all of these challenges with the same work ethic I have applied to my music career thus far.
I think that is what makes me most able to overcome any concerns I may have at fulfilling my obligation to the great family, friends and fans who support what I do.
