An epic shooter / RPG crossover like nothing you've ever played before with a next gen AI and a story that changes every time.
Above is the original trailer for Origin which focuses on the storyline.
HALF TIME REPORT:15 days and $19,000 to go. To kick off the second half, Origin now has a website at origin.Ntelliware.com along with a facebook and twitter account. Also, in the video below you will find a sneak peek at where the playable demo is at! Currently no enemies, no HUD, and only a few incomplete cinematics at the beginning, but the point of the sneak peek is a look at the in game graphics so you can get a first glimpse of what to expect! Enjoy!
P.S. Due to youtube's aweful compression of the video, I have uploaded screenshots.

I: What is Origin?
Origin
is a videogame experience like nothing you've ever known. The game is a shooter with RPG elements,
featuring an epic storyline that combines elements of popular science fiction, ancient
astronaut theory, and even some biblical references. You are Jack Williams, an average Joe from a
small town. One day, out of nowhere,
Earth is attacked by an alien race of machines.
Your fight for your own survival keeps pushing you into the middle of
the action where you learn the true origins of life on Earth. When all hope seems lost, you are rescued by
a small group of various alien races who have come to aid humanity. You learn that mankind originally came from
another world, but that world was attacked by the machines, known as the
SAND. In mankind's final hour, they sent a
ship called the Arcturus, known as the Ark for short, containing the embryos of
all life on their planet, to find a new world, safe from the machines, to
hide. Every trace of mankind's history
was to be concealed to keep us undetected.
All was well until mankind sent out the Voyager probes in 1977, telling
the machines right where to find us. Now
Earth is the last living planet in the universe, and the fate of all life rests
on your shoulders as you fight the SAND on Earth, in space, and across the galaxy
in the final stand for life as we know it.
Origin
stands apart from other videogames because of its gameplay and its artificial
intelligence. The gameplay changes
constantly. Every conversation you have
and every choice you make will drastically change the game from that point
forward, leaving you with the ability to play the game a dozen times and get a
different experience every time.
Different levels, quests, cinematics, and endings will be available
based on your choices.
The artificial intelligence
is a true self evolving group consciousness neural network. Every enemy you face in the game shares a
common mind. The AI learns, it evolves,
it adapts, and it remembers, and everything you do to one machine, every other
machine remembers it as if it happened to them.
The AI is designed to evolve itself towards the most efficient way to
take you out, and it learns exponentially, creating a very lethal enemy that
will challenge even the best gamers.
As for tech specs, I plan to use the Unity 3D engine as it is very quick and simple to work with, yet still creates stunning 3d game graphics. Unity also has the advantage that it can port to Xbox or PlayStation with additional costs. The requirements for PC will be fairly mainstream, not requiring a high end gaming computer, just something with a standard Nvidia or ATI graphics chipset and DirectX 10 or higher, along with a reasonable amount of RAM and processing power. DirectX 10 or higher is required because it enables better graphics with less computing power, and any computer running Windows Vista and up should already be equipped with DirectX 10.

III: Why Do I Need Help From the Kickstarter Community?
Creating a videogame is a
difficult task. In order to create a videogame of this magnitude, I need help. Creating a videogame like Origin would take years doing it in my spare time on a "spare cash" budget. Things such as voice over actors, leasing time on supercomputers to render the video cut scenes because it takes about 15 hours to render one second of video on a desktop, leasing time in a motion capture studio for animations, there is also advertising to concider, production costs, a Unity Pro license, etc. The list is practically endless. This is why I need help, because it is nearly impossible to get all of these things when you have no budget.
If I receive funding in
excess of my requirements, it will go towards hiring other programmers and
developers to help ensure the game is finished sooner, and looks better. Twenty thousand dollars is the minimum I need
to create the game, but the more funding I get, the better the game is going to
be and the sooner it will get released.
