This Friday we will find out if Gene Sharp has won the Nobel Peace Prize. There can be few people in the history of the prize who deserve it more but as we know the committee is notoriously unpredictable. Whatever the outcome, the film and your contributions have helped enormously to raise the profile of Genes work. How to Start a Revolution has screened a number of times on Norwegian television, the Oslo Human Rights Film Festival brought many political figures into contact with the work and this also resulted in huge press coverage during our trip there in February.
This week also sees the launch of the Gene Sharp iPad app which is now live on the app store.
This groundbreaking app is a touch activated documentary embedding analysis, extra video and satellite mapping with four of Gene Sharp's key books including his famous work, From Dictatorship to Democracy, described as a handbook for revolutionaries. For the first time, the iPad brings together an award winning film and books which have helped nonviolent activists change the world. Integration with the Albert Einstein Institution website provides hundreds of pages of additional readings and case studies.
A Revolution Monitor fuses mapping technology with curated Twitter streams from more than 40 countries. Viewers simply touch a country to follow revolutions in real time and even interact with the activists involved. Tweeted articles, blogs and video are displayed instantly creating a live stream of activist generated news by location.
Part educational resource, part immersive experience - this app is an essential toolbox of resources for activists and all those interested in democracy and the abolition of violent conflict.
"A vital conversation starter and educational tool in a world awash with violence" The Huffington Post
We know that there are still some people who have not received DVDs, there seems to be a particular problem with Canadian deliveries and some of the more security restrictive countries. Please let us know by private message and we will do our best to get them out to you as soon as possible.

We're incredibly proud to have picked up a Scottish BAFTA last Thursday at the Scottish BAFTA New Talent awards. This is an incredible honour for a first film and we'd like to thank you again for your fantastic support which made this possible.
This week we were nominated for a Golden Butterfly, Amnesty International's award for the most politically important film of the year, hosted at The Hague in The Netherlands. The winning film was "5 Broken Cameras" which is an incredible story about nonviolent resistance in Palestine. As ever, films about the conflict in this region are controversial and stir strong emotions but It was incredible just to be in the same category as this film and I'd urge everyone to take a look.
All of you should now have received a DVD copy of How to Start a Revolution if you have donated in the required gift category. There were a few unreadable or corrupted addresses so if you have not received a copy please let me know with your current address so we can get one out to you as soon as possible.
