Ruaridh Arrow: Director,
Ruaridh Arrow trained as a newspaper journalist before moving to Sky News as a producer and then to Channel 4’s Dispatches programme. He has also produced programmes for National Geographic, BBC News and the the Financial Times . While filming in Cairo he reported for the BBC from Tahrir Square during the Egyptian revolution.
I have not yet received my limited edition DVD. Could you please advise?
I've just watched the film and am sitting here now with the fire of inspiration in my heart. This is a marvelous portrait of a man and the profound ideas that are changing the world. What I found particularly liberating was the fact that the people behind these great revolutions - Mr. Sharp included - are decidedly human. One often imagines that change of such grand scale can be conjured and led only by near-superhuman characters, historic figures of great and rare charisma. This film reminds us of Margaret Mead's conviction that it is ordinary people that change the world - and of course it is Gene Sharp that provides us with a set of tools and tactics that can help us do just that.
Good to hear the news! But I was a bit disappointed when I had to read in the newspaper about your screening in Oslo before I got this update. I live in Oslo and heard about it a bit late. And I guess you have more international backers that also would like to get updates whenever there is a screening somewhere nearby. Just a friendly tip!
Dear all,
I'm sorry it has been so long since our last update. The success of the film has meant that the festival tour has been non-stop for months now and unfortunately I have had no team to help with the important work of getting the gifts out. I'm pleased to say that after several serious delays the DVDs are finally here and I'm now sitting on my bed writing notes to as many of you as I can before I leave for the Human Rights Human Wrongs Festival in Oslo. The first batch will be posted out from London tomorrow and I expect those of you in North America to receive them the week beginning the 13th February. If you have not received a DVD by the end of that week please let me know.
T-Shirts and Posters will follow on as they require slightly different packaging.
I wont pre-empt my note but once again can I thank you for your fantastic support and patience while I get the gifts out.

HI Kickstarter.... so delighted that this movie has been finished - How to start a revolution’ but disappointed that I have not received any of the gifts I was promised – a boxed set of the DVD and a T-shirt I think it was ... when will they be coming? Had the opportunity to meet and listen to Gene Sharp at Florida International University in the 1990s on the application of strategic nonviolence in Cuba and since then have read many of his books and publications. A great individual who has provided a guide for the average person to exercise political power not through the barrel of a gun but through critical thinking that arrives at a strategic vision backed up with moral courage to confront brutal repression. Bravo to all involved in making this documentary possible.
