Week six update!

This scene was really fun to shoot because of David and Ashly's interactions. So amazing those two.
Unfortunately, this is the last promo scene we shot, but on the flip side now we're almost ready to shoot the real deal. It's been a crazy few weeks of pre-production and now the real craziness begins!
I shot this scene day for night using only natural daylight and a bounce card and then Tj corrected it in post. It's so awesome seeing how much the image changes once it gets under the surgeon's hand. Looks great!
Thanks again everyone. I'll get one last update in on July 20th, which is also my birthday! Yay! So pretty much all you kind people gave me the best birthday gift EVER! I mean, besides life I guess. Thanks parents!

Week five update!
It's so exciting for me to post these promo scenes because I'm so very happy with them. Here's promo scene number two, which I should mention once again-- given this is one scene out of a hundred, it may not make sense, but I hope it's enjoyable anyway.
Much of this film is grownups doing childish things, and remembering the magic of those simple moments. For example, in this scene the characters tie notes to balloons, hoping that the balloons will drift down into the hands of someone across the world (except with a little dark humor thrown in).
Since we have already made our goal, I am posting this with much much gratitude to you fine people. We're still going to push forward and try to raise a little more to cover the costs of the Kickstarter fees and the costs of making those sweet incentives. So keep spreading the word if you will! Thanks a million everyone, you are an important piece of the filmmaking puzzle.

Week four update!
I woke up this morning to post an update only to find our goal has been reached! I can't say thank you enough. Thank you thank you thank you!
Since we still have 18 days to go, I'm going to continue to post these updates. I hope you enjoy them.
Two days ago we were able to screen a few promo scenes at Tower Theater in SLC. Tower Theater is one of our only remaining old theater houses. Salt Lake Film Society does an amazing job keeping it up and running, and programming great independent films to screen there. They sponsored our screening. Thank you SLFS!
This scene may not entirely make sense given it's just a random scene plucked from the screenplay, but I hope it's enjoyable nonetheless! Holly (Ashly Burch) uses death as a metaphor for her recent break up. She makes a fake headstone with plans to hold a funeral ceremony. Ashley (David Fetzer) has just recently met Holly.
Ashly Burch and David Fetzer have a great onscreen presence. I can't wait to start shooting at the end of the month. That's so soon!

Week three update!
Hey everybody,
Here we are at week three. It's unbelievable how great this week has been! We are at 93% funding and we've officially begun preproduction! I want to say thanks to all of you--those of you I know personally, Ashly's loyal fans, David and the rest of the crew's friends and families, and of course those of you that just want to support projects you like and believe in. Thank you!
Maybe I should preface this little video by stating that it is not a trailer. :)
Tj Nelson is a dear friend of mine and on top of being a great film editor, he is also an amazing photographer. He took all the promo photos you've seen so far. While he was shooting photos of David and Ashly, I grabbed some video clips and cut them together. The music in the video is Andrew Shaw of the The Platte. He's scoring the film and was kind enough to let me use this yet to be released track.
