I scream... You scream... We all scream for ice cream! If you liked Nimblebit's Scoops iphone game, then your whole family will love this card game! Grab scoops of ice cream and place them on a cone. Keep stacking scoops on top of your cone and win with the tallest stack!
Scoops is a 6-player, cooperative game for ages 3 and up.
Why Scoops?
I own TableStar Games, an Oakland-based board and card game company. I am a devoted husband and a father of two brilliant little girls. We have been playing Scoops together with their friends for years and they all love it. If they love Scoops, so who am I to argue?
But I want to produce Scoops because most games for kids depend on dexterity or are "slap games" where the fastest player wins. I wanted to make a fun, fair, and intuitive game for our youngest gamers that featured competition and cooperation.
Trials, Tribulations and Victories
Scoops was started in 2006 and I have been working on getting it printed for almost 5 years. In the Spring of 2010 my Nieces showed me Scoops on the iPad. This was devastating news. The game had the same name and a similar ideas of gameplay. It seemed that Scoops was dead in the water.
I played the iPhone game and it was great. I decided to reach out to the creators, NimbleBit, and they were very positive. They said that they loved board games, card games and kids games. We quickly put together an agreement and Scoops was back on track. With the ip issues settled we are now ready to go ahead and have this game produced.
