The crew of PORC is Josh Saltzman and Trent Allen. We're two experienced food service industry guys with useless university degrees (general studies and classical languages, beat that!) on a mission to create the most innovative street food company in the USA. We love and obsess over food and hope we'll be cooking you a meal soon.
Good luck! And remember, if at first you don't succeed...
Guys, what are you going to do if you don't make the $30K? Is that the end of the dream?
Heh, yes, L'Enfant Plaza area is a culinary wasteland, unless you count CityZen (which you would need a lobbyist's expense account to do so) or want to walk to Maine Ave. You win hands down. So quit yer wishin' and get your DOE and other Fed neighbors to pony up!
Hey Folks! What we're going to do is add a drop-down menu when the kickstarter project is done, so you pick your preferred stop location. So, when you pick what reward you like, you can also help us project where the most hungry people will be. No worries though, L'Enfant and West End we'll be taken care of.
L'Enfant Plaza area!! We work-a-day folks over here are DESPERATE for decent food! I challenge the Foggy Bottom/West End crowd for who lives in the more food-deprived work neighborhood ... although that sounds like a challenge no one wants to win -- unless the prize for the winner (really, loser) is frequent visits by the PORC truck!
Hi, another vote for Foggy Bottom/West End in case the comments area might be treated as informal market research!
Dave, the whole hog event will be on a weekend TBD. We're going to try very hard to make it fit everyones schedules, and worse case scenario, we have multiple whole hog bbqs! Thanks for your support.
Any chance this will be a weekend thing? I'm unfortunately out in the 'burbs for the workweek.
Eli_basement, $30,000 in the food service business is very much so on the low end. We've put half of the startup money ($30,000) in ourselves. Building a truck, getting it licensed and on the road costs money. We could do it with less capital, but then we would be serving an inferior product, we would be unable to be eco-friendly, and you, the customer would suffer.
Liz and Ari, we will definitely be hitting up the West End/Foggy Bottom area. We've both worked in the West End and were dying for some good options. We will not forsake our forgotten comrades.
I'm also in Foggy Bottom/ West End and would love to be able to buy a tasty veggie burger from a food cart around here! The food options in this neighborhood are more limited than other places I've worked in DC.
Why $30,000? What will that go toward? That seems like a lot of money. Please explain.
Hi, I just pledged. Please, please come near Foggy Bottom. Most of the food trucks gather around Farragut Square or even further east, leaving us in the West End hungry. At least once a week, if you could come near 21st and K, that would be awesome.
