LA VS WAR
LA Vs. WAR will mark the 10th anniversary of the September 11 2001 attacks with a massive group art exhibition and event taking place in Downtown Los Angeles from 9/9/11 to 9/11/11 at the Vortex. LA Vs. WAR presents some of today’s most prolific, pro-peace/anti-war, political artists in a multi-media exhibition chronicling the creative responses to the current military conflicts in the Middle East/North Africa/Central Asia, The Global War on Terror, the Drug Wars, and other wars on marginalized peoples. After the September 2011 show, we plan to travel the exhibition as "Vs. WAR" to other cities in the U.S. and abroad in the spirit of peace and creative collaboration.
LA Vs. WAR is part exhibition, part experience. The art show will be curated by Yo! Peace, Center for the Study of Political Graphics, Political Gridlock and Ad Hoc Art and will feature a large selection of fine art and limited edition prints and posters. Live art demonstrations and workshops will engage the audience in creative activities ranging from graffiti, t-shirt printing, stenciling, and more. Teach-ins with our grassroots partners will inform and inspire attendees to transform their own lives and communities.

• Peace Altar by Ofelia Esparza & ZAN. Bring your own photos and mementos to add to the powerful meditation for Peace.
• Peace Photo Project will be taking portraits of attendees as advocates for Peace.
• Laser Graffiti interactive experience hosted by Buff Laser 2000
TEACH INS
In the tradition of the peace movement’s “teach-ins,” come listen and interact with speakers from our grassroots activist partners Iraq Veterans Against the War, Code Pink, Antiwar.com, Center for the Study of Political Graphics, Youth Justice Coalition, Californians United for a Responsible Budget (CURB), Los Angeles Community Action Network (LACAN) and others. Schedules to be announced.
MUSIC
LA Vs. WAR welcomes the return of an all-star DJ lineup curated by ArtDontSleep and Dublab.com. DJ schedules will be listed on vswar.org before the show.
MURALS
LA Vs. WAR is also sponsoring the creation of public Peace Murals in Los Angeles during the lead up to our September show. If funds permit, we will produce more! Pictured here is our first mural, titled "La Madre Vs. War."
INTO THE FUTURE!
LA Vs. WAR will live on past the September 2011 Los Angeles event under the name Vs. WAR. The show will evolve and travel to other cities, bringing our unique model of creative resistance and collaboration to other communities.
HISTORY
LA Vs. WAR 2011 is a follow up to the original LA Vs. WAR show held in April 2008. LA Vs. WAR 2008 was a four day event, originally organized out of the Yo! Peace poster show. It welcomed 6000 attendees and made waves around the nation.
