Interview with Aaron Meyers
Here is a very brief interview with Aaron Meyers. He has been creating amazing array of software based interactive art works that manifests itself on the world wide web/ installation/ performance. Aaron is an expert in designing open platform for voluntary participation. There are examples like 3frames where people take a picture of themselves and the software turns it into an animated Gif. Aaron is interested in the web culture and we have been talking about doing a SPEEDSHOW in Seoul. There are tons of web designers and developers in South Korea but there has not been so many web artists since Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industry. And the internet culture of South Korea tends to be very insular and center around corporate run portals such as Daum.net or Naver.com. In light of the Eyebeam Roadshow: South Korea and our shared interest in participation as the means and ends of an art work, we thought SPEEDSHOW: Seoul can be a workshop where participants make Net art in few hours in a PC cafe, which is still popular in Seoul. We haven't heard back from Aram Bartholl, who founded the concept, and we might not have the time to do it during the Roadshow. but at any rate, Aaron Meyers will be running his own workshops and performances during the trip, so stay tuned!
