Well, we gave it the good fight, but it doesn't look like we will meet our goal. We have gotten some really nice pledges over the last couple days, and I am grateful for every one.

If you pledged at a level including a HeronLED Personal Task Light as a reward, you should have received a message from me yesterday explaining how you can still get one at a special price and with free shipping. If you didn't, please let me know!

 If there are any other backers out there who might be interested, please send me a message through KickStarter before tomorrow evening or email me at nancy@lfplighting.com after that and I will send you the information.

Update to this update: I have removed a couple paragraphs from the message below originally posted on 3/19.  I DID sound whiney!!!

Well, we have only 3 days left and would need 46 more people to pledge at the $200 level to make it. Not impossible, but not easy!

I haven't given up yet and continued to do outreach, but whatever happens, I am grateful to each and every one of you for your support and thankful that so many more people now know about what we're doing.

Those of you who pledged at levels that include a lamp as a reward can still get one for a bit less than your pledge amount, and I'll message you before the project ends to see if you're interested and to explain how we can make it happen. 

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU.  I'll update at least once more before official project end.

It happened! David de Rothschild and the wonderful folks at MYOO arranged for a lovely little piece on LittleFootprint Lighting to appear on the HOME PAGE!!!  Since the piece directs folks to come to our KickStarter page, we can hope for some more action to add to the nice bump we had yesterday that took us beyond the 1/3 funded mark!  If you have chance, ask your friends to look for us on www.myoo.com . They are likely to find MYOO cool in its own right, and hopefully after they read the blurb on LittleFootpring Lighting, they'll jump from there to KickStarter determined to pledge!!!

We face a big challenge to fill the gap between where we are today and our goal in the next nine days, but I’m not giving up yet!  Hey, we just need 50 people to realize how much they need an awesome desk lamp and to pledge at $200, and we’re there!  And there’s still a chance that KickStarter will give us some better coverage, which I think would make a huge difference.

Whether or not that happens,   I have really exciting, inspiring news I want to share with you:  With the help of one of our backers (thanks Joel!) I was able to get in touch with David de Rothschild, the well-known adventurer/environmentalist who conceived of, built, and sailed the Plastiki and more recently, founded MYOO.com.   In case you don’t remember hearing about it, the Plastiki is a boat built from 12,500 reclaimed plastic bottles and other recycled plastic and was sailed from San Francisco to Sydney to highlight the problem of plastic waste and to demonstrate how it can be recycled and used as a resource.   MYOO.com is a fascinating website created to bring together people who care about the planet and have wonderful ideas to share about how we can work to make positive changes.  I highly recommend you visit the site!

Anyway, David tweeted about us and is arranging for a story about LittleFootprint Lighting to be put into the MYOO newsfeed.   Who knows where that will take us!!!

To have the support of all of you and to have our project talked about by somebody like David de Rothschild is an incredible affirmation.  Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! Yesterday was an exciting day for this project. We got lots of nice pledges and surpassed the 50 backer mark.  Thanks to each and every one of you, especially to those of you who were able to take time out and email others to tell them about our project. Almost all the new pledges we got yesterday were a result of backers bringing in backers by contacting them directly.  I am beyond grateful!

I’m excited to tell you we’re getting rave reviews from the early adopters who already have lamps from our first small production run.   If you were able to pledge at the $200 level, which will get you your own HeronLED Personal Task Light, you’ll see for yourself that we didn’t just make a green product, we really did make a good product!

Like I said in my video, I’m confident we can be successful, but we still really need your help at this crucial stage so we can start getting our costs down right away.  We have about two weeks to meet our goal. If you think of anybody who might want to get a great lamp or pledge at any level, please steer them our way. And THANKS from the bottom of my heart for what you’ve already done!
