o·ver·come [oh-ver-kuhm] 1. to get the better of in a struggle or conflict 2. to prevail over
First of all, thank you for your support and belief in my dream. My team and I promise to work our butts off to deliver an inspired and hopefully inspirational set of songs! I can’t wait to share my past year of experiences with you!
Why is this project so important to me?
Prior to the past year, I had plans to make some kind of dark and brooding album in my sardonic fashion, laced with the flavor of old soul music that has captured my heart. However, the domino effect began when I was one semester away from graduating college. I was diagnosed with an auto-immune condition, and in turn, I was forced to drop my classes, pack up my life in Boston, and move in with my parents in Tennessee. I know what you’re thinking, but this is not the sob story it looks like it’s shaping up to be.
The circumstances of the past 16 months have been accompanied by a series of physical, emotional, and financial hardships, but on a positive note, I did land smack-dab in the middle of Music City USA. With focus and determination, I began to integrate myself into Nashville’s abundant live music scene by performing around town and collaborating with amazing songwriters and musicians. During this time period, I was making plans for this project. Things were definitely looking up, considering my situation. Then, in August of last year, I went into remission!
As I was focusing on shaping songs and concepts for this project, the word “overcome” kept circling through my head. The idea that we can either be overcome by something or we have the power to overcome it, and that both scenarios are constantly happening in all of our lives. We are in a web of trouble and triumph. Don’t get me wrong, you might find a few dark and brooding songs. However, the perspective shift of these experiences has led me to write some really positive and heartfelt songs that I hope will resonate within all of you!
Now, the
nuts and bolts:
In the
world of Music 2012, computers rule and so many are working on projects alone
in their basements. We want to bring a sound that is forged through human
interaction, playing together as a band, live in the studio. We want to produce
a collection of songs that captures the collective energy created by the
phenomenal musicians available to me. Our goal is to facilitate a project, with
your help, that allows the musicians to be available for an entire process
rather than just a quick overdub session. We want to have the freedom to
find the pocket and the embellishments that allow these songs to receive the
breath of life that only human interaction can provide. All financial support
received throughout “The Overcome Project” will be utilized by paying the
musicians and funding the studio time and album reproduction. Every little bit
helps!
I sincerely
appreciate you taking the time to visit my website and for your interest in
becoming a sponsor of this project. It means the world to me that you are
joining me on this journey and helping me make a project that is honest, alive, and
from the gut. THANK YOU in advance for your support. My wish is for this record
will provide the same support for you!
Here are my specific goals:
- To complete my first studio album The Overcome Project
- To record as much of the project as possible live with amazing players
- To expand my existing fan base to a regional and national level
- Tour!! I want to travel to you! You can help make that possible!
- Utilize this independent record to present to industry professionals and move my career forward.
- Revamp my website to provide more information and access to all of you!
Become A Part of the Overcome Project:
Anything you can give will help!! Look to the right to find rewards and incentives. If you can make a pledge it would mean the world to me! If you can’t afford to pledge any word you can spread helps! Sharing via Facebook, Twitter, Email, etc…can make a HUGE difference.
Here are the Numbers:
For 3 full days of studio time we need a full service studio capable of recording a complete rhythm section: Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano, Organ, and Vocals all at the same time. We plan to use a studio that provides a Grand Piano and a Hammond B3 $500-$750 per day.
So worst case $1000 per day including engineer $3000
Studio musicians working at what is known as a limited release rate (the core group Drums, Bass, Guitar, and Keys will be needed for 2 days).
$600 per day per musician $4800.
$1000 for special guest players (horns, percussion, etc... on specific songs on days 3-4).
$1000 for the limited Pressing of CD's with art work.
We are very lucky to have graphics artists, mix engineers, mastering and additional studio resources beyond this that are being donated as well as people who are sharing their talents for the greater good in the Overcome Project. Our goal here is to use your generous contributions to fund the part of the project that will allow us to deliver you a "world class" recording.
Any additional contributions will be used for promotional videos, merchandising, touring, and anything else I can do to reach out to more people.
