The DV60 has to be the finest and most complex instrument I have designed in 25 years of creating award winning musical instruments.
I had the epiphany for the design of this electric violin 2 years ago on the eve of my 60th birthday inspired by a decade of contemplation and started working on it the very same night. It began with concept drawings finished at 3am. This particular drawing shows the electric violin body in Aluminum, the perfect and ideal sonic solution for this model. The violin neck is carbon fiber composite, the "spine" is either wood or cast plastics. Finger board, chin rest and tuners are ebony. It is fitted for either 4 or 5 strings. The design and structure of it is optimized for a unique sound provided by peizo transducer pickups. Backers should indicate if they prefer Standard violin (4 string) or all metal strings with a custom 4 string humbucker that kicks out an awesome total metal sound, please add $2,000. Also available as 5 string Standard violin strings with custom pickup, add $1,500. Chrome or Gold Plated body parts add $1,000. All units in this series are hand crafted and include a hand signed & dated letter of authenticity with raised seal.

Bringing it to life hand carving delicate architectural foam. 100s of hours.

This is the filler stage and time for engineering checks. Front View.

The rear view of the prototype shows the spine in all it's splendor, the electronics pocket, and 1/4" jack location to plug into any amp.

Our immediate goal is to complete the prototype, make molds, and produce the first edition cast in ultra light urethane resin in a variety of colors and finishes including: chrome, black, and bone toned body with the spine in bone and lead finishes. Later models can include clear cast urethane materials with LED programmed light show and light organ that changes colors as the unit is played. Once we get that off the ground and have funding for 3D digital scanning, we plan to out source and produce the next generation in polished Aluminum plus in a wide variety of woods. I am an independent designer. Up till now this particular project has been 100% self funded. It's time to find some backers so we can step up the pace and bring this bad boy to market in style. With our friend & favorite endorser Joel Derouin pimping it out during the upcoming Rush Tour, our hopes are high since we've made all his electric violins since 1991.
