Stretch Goal: $500k means swappable battery packs!

We're still responding to everyone's questions and comments (thanks for your patience!), but here's the most popular question:
Is 6 miles the limit, or can it go farther?
6 miles is a good balance between usability and portability. The more range you have onboard, the heavier and bulkier the board will get. For most riders, 6 miles is plenty, but quite a few have asked for more.
So we're announcing a stretch goal of $500k. If we meet it, we will develop a fast-swappable battery mounting system that will ship on all our backers' boards, and we will offer compatible 6 mile (9.6 km) packs for purchase. This system was too expensive to design and develop at our $100k goal, but thanks to all of you, it's now within reach!
We don't yet know how much the extra packs will cost, but we will discount the price (compared to retail) for our Kickstarter backers. Our prototype battery pack weighs approximately 1 lb (0.45 kg), and we expect the final pack to weigh between 1 and 2.5 lbs (0.45 - 1.1 kg).

I agree. I like the option to have a light battery for normal use and a swappable, heavier battery for long trips.

I would love to have a swappable battery, that way I could go anywhere and have a couple spare batteries to know I can get back home as well. If I were you guys, I'd develop this regardless. It will help you sell more batteries and will make the boards easier to service.

@Jarrod, yes now we have the resources to make this happen, which we're pretty stoked about. We will definitely be offering additional chargers at some point, but we haven't confirmed availability or price yet.
@JM, yes, the prototype is 12 pounds but the weight may increase by a few pounds as we add things like safety covers, battery latches, etc. Thanks for the support!

Awesome! I like the idea, just as long as it doesn't push back your release too much. I'm going to need either a second charger, or a second battery pack, or both so I can recharge once I get to work. So I'd like to see an option to buy a second charger as well.
