About this project

Creating human connections is what moves an individual to act.

Deltree (www.thedeltree.org) is a creative film studio based in New Orleans, and Feelgoodz (www.feelgoodz.com) is a conscious flip-flop brand based in New Orleans. Together, we aim to create a documentary on Fair Trade that illustrates a new way of doing business and moves you to act.

Feelgoodz flip-flops are sourced from all natural rubber from the Yang Para ("Rubber Tree") in Southern Thailand and manufactured outside of Bangkok. I used to live and teach English in Thailand, and moved by the power of giving, created Feelgoodz to use sales of my flip-flops as a vehicle to create positive social change around the world.

Our first project, in partnership with TransFair USA, Ashoka, and Whole Foods, centers around creating a Fair Trade Rubber System for the entire country of Thailand. We want to introduce the world to our farmers and manufacturers in order to educate all about Fair Trade. We hope to create this documentary as a vehicle for human connection that impels an action to support businesses that truly care.

Extraction - Rubber Trees absorb CO2, so the more we can plant, the better. Also, once a rubber tree is 'tapped out' of rubber (30-40 years), the rubber wood is then used for high end furniture that Thailand exports and new rubber trees are planted in its stead.

Production - The use of all natural rubber, as opposed to EVA Foam, ensures biodegradability within 4 years. Also, we oversee the working conditions and quality of life of our factory workers.

Distribution - Although our product is imported, we try to limit the amount of shipments by ordering in bulk. Once in the USA, we partner with logistics companies that strive to be conscious. Additionally, we care about where our product is sold. We partner with like-minded retailers who care about the triple bottom line.

Consumption - Not only do we care about the environmental impact of our product, we care about quality and comfort in our flip-flops. Our flops are durable so we don't over consume. We want to give our customers the best experience as they're steppin' easy throughout the day.

Disposal - At the flip-flops' end-of-life, there are responsible disposal options for our customers. From using our flops as worm food for composting to burying the flops in your backyard, the biodegradability of our product proves for fun and creative disposal methods.
