BACKGROUND:                                                                                                  A question I ask myself often is, how can I raise the bar with my 6th grade students? This year, my students and I are up for the unique challenge of filming and editing two full length films. Our goal this school year is to have two teams of students working on two movies with different genres. As a middle school teacher at Creative Arts Academy Charter School in Sacramento, CA, I have learned that students will benefit from acting, producing, directing, lighting and editing a full length film.                                                                                

The first movie is about a 6th grade student who wins a golden ticket to get straight A’s for the whole year. His dilemma is that everyone is willing to trade, buy, and bully him for the ticket.                                                                         

The second movie takes on a whole different feel. My middle school students are producing their first horror/suspense movie about helping spirits. Some friends find out their school is haunted by a group of students who died in a school fire in the early 70’s.                                                                                  

Your donations will help with funding the film, sound, lighting equipment, the post production DVDs & covers, printshop posters, ticket printing, and ultimately help cover the cost of screening the movie premiere in historical renown The Crest Theater here in downtown Sacramento on August 4, 2012, and get a jump start on next year’s production.
