Renewal of our Search

Update #31 · Apr 1, 2013 · 1 comment

Hey everyone,

We just wanted to give an update of where we are in the process of getting Wilderness up and running.

Well, our biggest bottleneck remains the issue of space.  There are various reasons that spaces have continued not to work out.  Some have been distance, some population density, some legal distance (from schools, churches, or residential areas), some breaking of verbal agreement, and some have been code issues.

However, we are diligently continuing our search efforts.  To that end, we have decided to part ways with our realtor due to the lack of results concerning spaces.  From now on, we will be directly representing our interests for the sake of pre-screening locations to gather information that is pertinent for our intended usage.

In the meantime, we have three options of location in the works but have further work in order to find out whether or not they are workable solutions.  But...we are still getting equipment together for when we find a home.

Thanks for your continued support during our time of searching.

We appreciate you all,

Mike and Nate.

Movement in the Wilderness

Update #30 · Jan 9, 2013 · 1 comment

Hey everybody,

Nate and I just want to keep you apprised of the happenings for Wilderness Brewing.

We have been continuing the search for location...a tough nut to crack.  However, we have been making some progress on that front.  We had an excellent meeting with the folks in downtown K.C. today.  We feel very encouraged and hopeful about finding a location very soon.

In the meantime, we are pulling some more of our equipment together for the future brewery that you all made happen.  In that vein, we are going to be posting some pics of the equipment as it is rolling in.  We are geeked to show you all the progress.

Thanks again.  It couldn't happen without your continued support.

Mike

Update on Wilderness

Update #29 · Oct 30, 2012 · 2 comments

Hey everyone,
As was recently pointed out by someone on twitter, we haven't posted an update in a bit.  Well, there is a reason that the Wilderness updates have been somewhat sparse...there frankly hasn't been much to update.

Let us clarify.  We anticipated having a good and exciting update for you a few weeks back.  But after two months of negotiating the terms of our lease, working out the specifics of building codes required of us, determining our plan to move forward, and waiting on our potential landlord to get back to us concerning various topics, we regret to inform everyone that we had a verbal contract broken on us (verbal contracts are legally binding in Missouri).  This has been a very disappointing development given the amount of footwork we did to make a space happen.
We could expatiate as to why various locations have fallen through along the way...but let us offer a different tack.

Our commitment to finding a location is being renewed and we are looking at some places this coming Wednesday (tomorrow).  So, once again, we are hoping to find a location we soon.
In the mean time, we are starting to purchase some of our equipment and gearing up for the fact that we will (eventually) find the right place to make Wilderness Brewing Co. a reality.  To that end, we are asking all of our supporters in the Kansas City area to keep an eye out and let us know if you see a place you think should consider as we look at our other potential locations.

Thanks for your continued support,

Mike and Nate

The Wandering Continues

Update #28 · May 23, 2012 · 2 comments

To all our loyal supporters:

We hope everything is well with each and every one of you.  It's been a bit since we've updated, so we want to post and keep everyone abreast of our development.

We started out with a space that we really liked and had high hopes for a spot in Columbus Park.  After engaging the city, talking with some folks (who were very nice, by the way), and submitting for a population density study of the area, we fell 100 people short of the city requirements.  It was very disappointing...and it made us realize how hard a good home is to find.

However, we've been studiously looking for locations ever since.  We are getting much closer to securing a spot and are meeting about that very thing tomorrow.  We hope to be in a leased space about a month or so for now.  The moment we know exactly where we decided to put down roots, we will let everyone know.

After the location is decided upon, we will begin our build-out and TTB paperwork.  We are both hopeful and still marveling over the support all of you have offered us.  Also, we promise that more updates are coming with much more frequency.

We simply cannot wait to see all of you at the brewery.  Please continue to spread the good word.

Mike and Nate
